I'm looking to try a new lake in a area of the state I haven't fished and that's the ely areA I've chosen. Gonna be memorial weekend. Looking for a lake to camp on and not have a motor restriction. Walleyes and Northerns are fish of choice  with a couple bonus small mouths.

Vermilion is 20 miles closer than the Ely area and the fishing is awesome in the spring for Walleyes. Large Pike abound and it is one of the best Smallmouth lakes in the state. There are also a number of wilderness campsites and some very good camp grounds near Tower. ;)

Fish Burntside if you want to get a nice Walleye for the 2016 Challenge.  Large Pike also, same fishing method.  Stop in the shop one morning and I'll give you the crash course on how to fish the lake!!

Vermilion has always been known for it's large Pike.  Pike in the 8 to 15ib range are common and Pike over 40 inches are caught all the time. I have a personal best of 44.5 but I have seen them as large as 48 inches. Spinnerbaits, spoons, jerkbaits, deadbait, buzzbaits and swimbaits are some of my favorite ways to catch them. ;)
