I do go to the store.  Trader Joe's is a store and I go right by it most days, now that the road is open again.   
And that is the kind of green beans they sell.  They are really good, and inexpensive.   Just like 3 buck chuck.

Sat in the blind last night to no avail.  Felt great though.  Real comfortable to sit there in the comfy chairs.  The wife even came out for the final hour.  Was nice.  Well back to the grind today.  Was a nice long weekend though.  Had leftover ribs last night from the cook on Sunday.  Had a can of Franks Bavarian Kraut with them.  The kraut was a little sweet but the more I ate the more I liked it.  Will get that again.  Well it is voting day today.  I am still not 100% sure who to vote for.  Wacko A or Crook B.  A vote not for one of them is a wasted vote I am thinking.  Although I don't know if I want to be associated with the winner neither.  What a mess.   Well there is something to think about today.  We will go vote after work.  Have a good day all.

Morning all! I'm finally back in the stand today since Saturday morning. Been real busy dragging, skinning, cutting, grinding and packaging. We are over 300 processed already and have another week to go...

We have 41 now, on the way to mid 50's. I saw 63 on the thermometer yesterday here. Mid 50's thru Thursday is the forcast. Got to agree with LPS on the election though. We've actually discussed the idea that we all might be better off, no matter who wins, if the VP gets the job. Enough politics.......... have good 1 guys & go vote!

It's evening, but I'm posting in the good morning column anyway.  Good place to get thoughts out and I've had plenty of time to gather them.  I took two days of of work and spent the last 4 days in a deer stand - full-day sits for the first three days and a half-day today.  I would've made it a full day today but I cut it short to go vote and come home, clean-up and make dinner for my wife and family.  Especially my wife, she's had to deal with our two boys and a lot of parental tasks solo the last 4 days and she deserves a good meal and a clean kitchen!

With all the thinking time, you'd think a guy might emerge from the woods with a better idea - or at least a better rationale for the person he's voting for, but I didn't.  That's OK though, My vote is my vote and I'm comforted by the fact that no matter what, my presidential vote probably doesn't count for very much except my right to complain, given the fact that Minnesota has gone the same way since Jimmy Carter.

Anyway, no deer yet.  Missed a long shot at a 5-pointer on Saturday morning.  Was waiting for him to come closer but then my brother in law - who was a short distance away - shot and dropped an 8-pointer.  My deer was about to bolt at the sound of his gunshot so I took a chance - the shot was safe, but long, and it was a miss.  That night at dusk I saw a monster buck in the last minutes of shooting light.  He was silhouetted against the fading light, walking down the ridge away from me.  One of the nicer deer I've ever seen alive in-person and I've certainly never shot one that big. A younger, dumber me would've gambled a shot; but there was too much distance and brush between him and me.  A hit would've been improbable and a kill shot almost impossible.  Did not want to take a chance on wounding him and losing him in the night.  So I watched as he slowly sauntered down the hillside without a care in the world.  I was hoping that karma would mean he'd come back, only closer and in the day light, but to no avail.  I didn't a see a deer all day Sunday or Monday. 

Finally today, after sitting all morning, three does came in behind me.  The wind was completely wrong, they got a whiff of me about the same time I saw them and they darted off the direction they came from.  That's fine, I don't have a doe tag anyway - but it was just enough to keep me excited about going back out on Friday morning throughout weekend.  Until then, it's back to work for two days.

Whew! that was a lot. I don't normally post here, but being alone in the woods for 4-days without talking much makes you want to blab a little.  Can't take much more election garbage, what will happen will happen.  Think I'll enjoy dinner with the family, maybe play a game with the kids and go to bed.  I'll wake up tomorrow and see what one of two evils will lead our nation for the next 4 years.  Good night all.

Good morning, President Trump!!!  Wanted to be the first to say that....    33* and clear skies...looks to be a great day. Heading to the funeral of my best friends Mom this morning with my other best bud...gonna be a long day. I'll be glad when it's over.
Hope y'all have a good hump day, and just think ...we'll have a hot first lady, we get to keep our guns,and our prez won't be wearing Kmart pantsuits!!!

And the Donald Trumped Hillary.  I got to say that first.  Oh well hang on, this could be interesting.  Who knows, it may be fun.  I try to be optimistic about things.  Even the Vikes.  Good read General.  A guy does get lots of thinking time fishing and hunting.  I too sometimes wonder if Karma will bring that buck back or that bite on the end of the line.  Or will it make tomorrow better luck. 
So people looking for jobs in Canada is at an all time high.  And that was before the election.  lol Well I found myself an almost new pontoon trailer for my new to us pontoon boat.  Will meet a guy in Bemidji with it on Sat.     How cool is that???  Weather here mid 50's even on Sat. so either some fishing or hunting in the afternoon I am thinking.  Man we are saving heating fuel so far this year.   Ice will come soon enough.

We have 38, on the way to 60-65 the talk is. Headed to Winnie today, haven't been over there this season, to chase some walleyes. Probably the last time in the boat for this year. We'll pull the dock tomorrow, most likely. Winterize the boat & a few other odd jobs around here before heading back south sometime early next week. I think there's a lot of surprised people in our country today. Have a good day everyone

32 at the ranch in the overnight. All frosty this a.m. but sunny and up to 55 today. Waiting on a customer to show up so I can blast out of here and enjoy a little of it hopefully. Work on health care tomorrow as the nice lady helping me is busy with other stuff. Soil sampling is slowly winding down. May be one more last minute rush of folks before everything is done. In the meantime missed lunch so I'm hungry. Maybe go to the meat market and pick up some stuff to grill tonight.

Got home from hunting yesterday afternoon.  Showered and cleaned up a bit and then settled in to watch the election results.  Finally went to bed at 2 AM.  Planned to go back hunting this afternoon but after talking with a fellow MDHA guy, decided to work on deer hides being we had over 100 that needed to be cleaned and salted.  It took longer than I anticipated (mostly because there were only two of us and the other guy spent a lot of time dealing with a road kill by his place) so by the time we were done with the 110 hides, it was a tad late to try and get out this afternoon.  I'm leaving after supper to head up to the cabin for the remainder of the season.  Big bucks be afraid.

Hey I like the LIKE button.  Will see how that turns out.  Thanks HD.  I also liked the deer hunting article on the opening page.  I haven't seen a buck at my home deer blind yet.  I know it is close to the house but it is about 9 acres of thick spruces so I hope some buck comes in to sniff the resident doe in there since he got chased out of somewhere else.  I hear shots close by so maybe it will work.  The big thing is it is so convenient to just walk 100 yards to be in my blind.  With this weather I am torn between taking the dogs out fishing or leaving them in the house whilst I deer hunt...   Another nice day today.  50's again.  It got to 65 here on the Canadian border yesterday.  Unreal.  Great for the heat bill...  There was no protests that I am awhere of here last night.   lol
