Came back from up north from deer hunting.  Left last Friday.  Brought up my ATV and drove into our camp.  Fresh snow and I was the only one there.  Got out of my truck and fresh wolf tracks going right to where we have our campfire.  It was a loner.  I was alone and put my stuff in the camper and got set up.  Was going to start up the ATV like normal and low and behold the starter went out on me so I started it by the pull option.  Got the wheeler off the trailer and found out my brakes did not exist anymore but the rear brakes still worked.  So the whole weekend it was pull to start and if needed use the rear brakes.  When it rains it pours.  It's a 2002 Polaris 500 and always worked great but over time things break down.  Lot's of memories and good time up there as usual.  Didn't see any deer but lot's of signs.  Rain snow mix on Saturday but my nephew's son got his first deer.  A buck and everyone gave high fives.  That made my season right there.  Lot's of snow up there.  Going back for the last weekend. Can't wait.  good luck.

Morning, fellers. 25* and gusting north winds. Brrrr said the little brown rabbit. Temp is supposed to DROP as the day goes on. Odd, it went from 32* in early evening yday up to 40* at 10:00 PM, then started raining... Next couple days in the teens. Might haveta bump the heat in here up to 65*. I'm plenty comfy at that. Always kept it at that as long as I can remember. If I go to someones house where it's 72*, I can't stand it. I think the 65* is healthier, and saves on the gas bill and the new furnace, too. No plans for today.....I think a couple o' sunny side up eggs, some double-smoked bacon, and toast slathered in punkie butter sounds like a winner this morning.....have a good one, guys.  :coffee:

How come yer taking out yer lilacs, Gunner? I love those, my favorite smelling flower. My two bushes are over 35 yo and 12' high! Wonderful smelling in da Spring, and I always clip 3-4 big vases full of them. Trim the heck out of 'em every year, and they still fill right back in.  :azn:

You'd look funny taking a run and jumping into the air, anyway. Prolly land on yer nose and get it bent outta shape. Leave that to Glenn when he catches a fish.  ;)

I can provide suggestion as to how to take care of the racoon and the possum.  Don't know about the skunk.   Leave the fox alone.....

I was looking on here earlier this morning and before I could post it went to this site has moved.  Wanted me to click something to help get back to it.  I didn't.  It was a site: tiger something.  Now the text is bigger which is kind of nice.  I wondered if we were taken over or something.  lol  Well I took my fish house/deer shack out of the field today.  I am driving in a foot of snow and more on the way in the next few days so I just wasn't comfortable thinking of fighting through the snow to get it out.  I feel relieved about it too.  Now just waiting for the river to freeze up.  It is close.  We love our lilacs too.  We trim the heck out of them every few years and they just keep coming back...

Here's how my morning/ afternoon went...
Gassed up my big snowblower today. Had gone thru it last month, A-OK everything worked great. Put it in gear today, nothing. Again. Nothing. %$#@! Took it apart, everything looked OK, drive shaft, belts, gears, .....$#@%! Has to be something simple, but I was stumped. Stopped at the Rental Depot  (few place in town here fix stuff anymore, they do) and talked to them about picking it up and looking at it. $20 deliver/pickup charge, $70 hr labor. Oh crap. (that seems the norm) Busy time of year...but had to do it. I was home about 5 mns when they pulled up and loaded it up. Half hour later, guy named Steve calls, and asks if I had checked the gear on the drive shaft..."No, why"?  "The chuck key for the drive gear is  sheared/gone.....gear just spun."   Oh for %$#@!  They put a new one in, replaced some lock- washers for me, half an hour later the guy WAS HERE with it!!!!!!! Great guys, very nice and honest!  He also said "the shape that's in, there was no reason for us to look for anything further". No upsell, or "it needs this," etc. Charged me for 15 mns of work. Total bill, $35. (That included the delivery/pickup) There are some good folks left around! Only thing that ticked me off is I missed something as simple as that; was in a hurry, as I had a barber appt tp get to. Spun the axle shaft to check the gear, and it turned, but never grabbed the gear itself.  :banghead: And I have a drawer full of sized woodruff keys... :doah:

Mornin guys, 14 for us. Might actually warm up some as the day goes on today, don't think it did yday. Made it to the dentist early so I got that out of the way for another 6 months. Got home & my brother was working on cleaning up the mess with the lilacs we had. 1 trip to the nearby dump that takes the yard waste & we called it good for now. A little more there but it can wait until it warms up. Not much planned for today, so I'll just roll with it. Have a good day.
