I spent the day pheasant hunting.   We were done by noon.   Then we went to the bar for dinner and a bit of the gophers game until we could find another guy to go so we could keep hunting.   Spent an hour on a public hunting area right after another group of 3 finished.   They also had 3 dogs and said they didn't see anything.  However it was 3 over weight labs so I knew we were golden.   An hour later we had 2 more and then cleaned birds and had a few beers.   However the old shorthair is a little stiff tonight.

Good morning....46*and clear. What a great Hunter's or Blood Moon in that western sky at 6:00 am....and it's full today. I advise getting up early (for some) to see it. Still there at 7:00 am, and it's big and bright. Plan on just doing some outside puttering today. Sounds like the word of the day to me, as LPS is still snoozing. Puttering: (verb) To occupy oneself in a desultory but pleasant manner, doing a number of small tasks or not concentrating on anything particular.   Let's use it in a sentence, guys!  I already did.  ;) 70's,for a temp. so say the wedder morjits. That should have been the word of the day...morjit, as applied to weather forecasters. Combines moron and idjit...."morjit". Would that be a "Rebism"? Gee, this word stuff is fun!!! Reminds me of a story about words....one day, Glenn was in school, learning about the great state of Alaska. The teacher was listing some of Alaska's bigger towns, and calling on students to use that word.  "The next town is Juneau....Glenn, can you use  Juneau in a sentence?" "Um, ya!" said Glenn. "Did Juneau I just farted?"
Have a good one, guys!  :rotflmao:

Mornin fellers!!!  Nice wheels Boar!!!

Its a beautiful sunshiney day here. Not a whole lot planned for today, some odds and ends to straighten up around the yard, go visit my ma for a bit and get my butt kicked at scrabble, and I took out some venison chops to throw on the grill later.

I'm sure I'll figure out something to fill in any time gaps that may occur.

It sounds likes Rebs going to be puttering around until he goes to the neighbor lady's later. ;) ;)

Great word for the day Rebs.  And that is exactly what I will do today.  It is a perfect day to putter.  Got a lot done yesterday and with no Vikes today I will putter the day away.  Will winterize the camper so will have football on there and in the garage shop.  May even fire up the small chain saw and trim some trees.  I bought a little 14" Stihl and love it.  So much easier for small jobs than the big Husqy.  May even do some grilling smoking later too.  I may even find time to do some fishing.....  All in the name of "puttering".  Thank you Reb.   Man I miss pheasant hunting.  Used to do a lot of it.  I have only seen 2 in 11 years up here.  I think they escaped from a game farm that used to be here.

'mornin'! Yes LPS, it's a great day to putter and while I got off to a good start, need my coffee to keep it going. Did chores, pulled some radishes and picked the two lone snap pea pods the rabbits hadn't found. Fall garden hasn't been much. Tried to stab some things in between rains in August and it was too cloudy and wet for it to amount to anything. We had over 18" of rain for July and August. Normal is about 8.5" for that two month period. Should clean up some screenings I shoveled into a pile yesterday at the neighbors and maybe spray some Canada thistle patches in the pasture with some Milestone. Got a few pork sirloin chops yesterday so plan on grilling those tonight.

Mrs. Cheviot wants to go leaf watching in the Stude this afternoon which is just a sneaky way of saying she's going to make an attempt to get into my pants. I'll admit, the car does steer hard since it has no power steering so she feels obligated to help. Luckily I had my Wheaties for breakfast. At least the three on the tree helps deter her advances while I'm driving. Hence I try to find a lot of hilly country when on these excursions. Method to my madness. However once I'm home a guy can only come up with so many excuses before eventually caving in. Why is it that women feel obligated to treat us men like sex objects? I mean, we have feelings too, right? (sigh)

Yup been puttering all day.  Got the camper winterized.  First time with this camper so took longer than it should have.  BUT I was in no hurry just having low stress fun doing it.  Now I have chicken quarters soaking in a strong salt, sugar, and a big jag of Bragg's apple cider vinegar solution.  Will put them on the smoker at 400 for an hour or maybe a few minutes more.  Gonna be great.....   Watching Cowboys and Packers.  I wonder if Dotch and Mrs. Dotch are parked somewhere out on a backroad???   That Stude gets him in trouble.....  Should maybe sell it to me at a very reduced price just to get rid of it.  Well time to make another cocktail so see ya later.  Go Cowboys!!!!

I was enjoying the puttering......decided to fire up both snowblowers, the big one, and the little 2 cycle one. Already did the all the maintenance/oil/belt stuff on them one afternoon a month ago, so I know they were ready to roar. Big one started on second pull, as usual. Pulled once on the 2 cycle...pulled twi   *SNAP*    &$#%#@#@$    Starter rope broke inside housing. God, I hate replacing those!!!! This one had the non-removable pulley assembly.....screw that!!!! Pried it apart enough to drill rope hole larger in the PLASTIC pulley and threaded new rope down in there, remembering to "wind up" that housing tight before tying the rope off, so it'll have a snappy retract.
Reassembled and done in 55 mns. Wonder what they woulda charged for that? I know my buddy that has the small engine repair gets $60 an hour....maybe I'll start doing the tune-ups again.  ;)
Worked up a good appetite that three hot dogs loaded with mustard, onions, and some mac salad and tater chips filled up. I'm done for the day...

Man the weekend went fast.  Darn.  Now today when I have to go to work I would have loved to sleep late.  Go figure.  How about the word for the day.  One of my favorites.  Mayhaps.  Part maybe and part perhaps.  Mayhaps I will go fishing today....  Or are you going fishing today the wife will ask.  Mayhaps I respond.    ;)  She gets a kick out of it too.

Looks like alot of rain south of here.  Not sure that we will see much of it which is ok.  Checked out the trail cam yesterday.  Fawns are still here and the doe and a couple of huge coons.  I didn't see that coyote on the cam.  Hope he kept on going and isn't around here anymore.  Oh ya a skunk was licking the mineral block a couple of times too.  Well will see ya all later.  Mayhaps I will check back in....

Fawgy here this am. Drizzled during the nite. Humid, damp, but warm day. It's 64* right now.  Supposed to T-storm later, say the morjits. Mayhap it might, might not.  Have a good one, guys.

Morning Fellers. Oh the joys, another Monday. That is a sweet looking bike your wife got the Boar. We had a good weekend, camped down in beltrami forest this past weekend. We brought the 4 wheelers and went riding Saturday. It was a nice day for it. We did only see 1 grouse, but can't say I was looking to hard. I think I was looking more for future bear hunting sites then anything. Definitely eyed up a couple for the next time I am drawn. Well, have a nice day everyone!!!

'mornin'! Tearing into 'er this a.m. Paperwork done and now onto bigger and better things. Was a good weekend after a not so good week last week. Looking forward to the upcoming week. Mrs.Cheviot takes off again for a day or so midweek so I can let my guard down! The cruise yesterday was a blast. Lots of colorful leaves and stopped at our favorite watering hole for some refreshments. A biker followed us for quite a ways and when we turned to head north, he went the other way and gave us the thumbs up. Foggy here earlier but it has lifted. Crop continues to come off but the big yields are starting to put some stress on storage space.
