Bear proof?

We put the suet feeders on a line  because the bears have been taking down the feeders. I hope this works. ....

Yup, the suet feeder is on the ground this morning again..... gotta think of something else.

I think you'll need to hang them from a sky hook. This way they'll never be able to touch da feeders.

Lee, that line is 12 feet off of the ground. So, with the sag of the line, it's still 9 feet up. Even a big bear standing on it's hind legs wouldn't stretch out that far. Looking at the feeder, the cable holding it up failed, and when it landed on the ground something carried it off into the hay field. Pretty big area of hay smashed down, and the feeder empty. The last suet feeder I had was zip tied to a pole,  the pole was 3/4" and bent over like a banana and never found that feeder again.

I hang scent bags all the tem for bear, I find a tree with a large over haging brance high off the ground, the throw the rope over the branch, making sure the rope is far enough away from the trunck of the tree, and the over hanging branch cant support the weight of a bear. the main thin is the rope need to be far enough away from the main trunk of the tree so a bear cant reach out and grab the rope. if the over hanging branch can support a bear then let the suet hang down far enough so the bear cant reach down and grab it. still might get it but, better odds they'll try and give up after awhile.

man that's crazy. we have suet feeders at the cabin and only in the spring when they come out of there hibernation do we have an issue once in a while.

maybe they know ole deadeye glenn is around and don't wanna mess with him................................
