The 300 beatles came yesterday.  My daughter loves the TV show Bones and wants to have her own bones.  We are starting with a beaver skull.  The 2nd one will be a beaver skull that has a bullet hole in it.  She also want a full skeleton of several animals.  Here is day 1 of the beaver skull.

Hopefully we don't kill them.  The beatles live a couple months.  They will lay eggs and hopefully multiply into a much larger colony.  Big enough to do deer and bear skulls.

This is for my youngest daughter.  She wants a deer shoulderblade with a bullet hole in it. She also saved a beaver fetus that she wants to do. She loves bones.

If she  becomes a psychiatrist I know a guy 57 who could use some prodding
I have a skull collection that I boxed up and left sit for the last 6-7 years,My defleshing was done in a leaf pile at our driveways end. I always put em out in spring and in 2-3 weeks they were clean. I'd then boil em an bleach, glue teeth in place,Then spray with lacquer.
Might your daughter be interested in them??I know last I looked the possum teeth needed sorted an glued back in.Got Bear, yote, fox, coon ,possum muskrat UMMM?Mouse, vole and ??I aint looked for 5 years!!

We are going to start downsizing all our collections and my tools that arent used much.

Well I'll do a pic anyway? I opened this box an found my turkey calls! A box, slate, glass an reed. I know there is another box of about the same or more number of skulls. The one I was working on Opossum is missing and the many teeth were in the bottom of the box,>>(Cabela shoe boxes) Maybe a whitecastle box I got from Glenn an Boar from their trip to white castle,They charged me for the box to cover gas from their trip!!!!!!! :moon:

Maybe a trade for some chantrells??Couple turtle shells to found them out for sheds across the bay.

Daughter already has a turtle shell so we don't need them.  The fish were biting and we had a lot of wood to cut and split so we never looked for chantrelles, sorry.

Thanks Dew.  The skulls are awsome.  We are guessing bear, coyote, 2 racoon, rat and have no clue on the one in the film canister that is tiny.  Here is a picture of my happy daughter with the skulls.  Thanks again and I will send more chantrelle next year.

That 8-9 inches a rain fooled some meadow and horse mushrooms into poppin, course the 65 degree Saturday temps sure helped.Normally I get them in the lot around mid Sept to beginning of Oct. if its a wet late summer. Only a few popped but they taste just like the rooms you,d buy from the store (button rooms) their flaver is a bit stronger nut oh so good! both gettin old new they have pink gills>>Easy to ID then.
Horse is white and large Left meadows smaller.
Got a few other strange ones I'll post later all eatable an tasty!

I do have a book but am weary of using it to ID for eating,Thats taking to many chances for me.
I had a teacher at Prairie woods environment learning center,When I moved here I was labeled as disabled and forced retirement,So I did volunteer stuff there for birds, mammal tracks and photography for youngsters and some parents,Met a guy who was a professor at UofM for plants and knew his rooms.I spent lots a time walking ditches woods an fields,He mostly pointed out poison rooms but also showed eatables.
Heres 2 I just picked the one on the left is a White correl jelly eatable but a last choice for me kinda bland,The one on the right is a Ruffle  awful tasty but short lived before it turnd to mush

Forgot to add the finished product.  The bug colony has grown and should be big enough to do deer skulls in a month.
