Ya I'm old school, don't need no camera.  Well I'm ready to get one.  What I want is one that you can see the pic from the same unit.  What's a good one to get.  Thanks. good luck.

I believe DE was the last one to buy a camera.....I still have my old ones that work, but you have to pull the camera and bring it in and hook it up to a computer. I'm old school too... ;)

reinythose cams that have the infeild viewing.dont have much of a screen to view. the one i have is an old one, a moultrie 6.0, the veiwimg screen is an inche square. todays cams might be larger im sure. but i enjoy either a moultrie blackflash or a browing  bot are under 150. i also carry a.camera thats sd card freindly..which u might already have. cams are fun ive have 5 have had then for 12 years now. i prefer the ones with AA  batteries. D cell.cams dont seem to hold power.long

I've had all the major brands and prefer the Moultrie.   I don't have any with the viewing screen.   They tend to be more expensive.  Sd cards are easy to switch out.  I agree with the double AA bateries.  All cams eventually die.  Moisture is usually the reason.  I put desiccant packs inside the cammera.  Ants have killed 1 as well. I've used my digital camera to view the pictures as well but hate the tiny screen.  I just put the sd card into my laptop at the car.
Anything that is free is worth saving up for.

Just bought a second Stealth Cam G45NG Pro at Fleet for $119. Liked my first one last year a lot. I've had quite a few and definitely go with the newer ones and AA batteries. My old c cell cameras lasted about 2 weeks before changing batteries, the AA last months. I wanted the No Glow over the Low Glow because bears eat anything they see and got one of mine this year. I think the low glow takes better pictures, but that's not based on anything but personal gut feeling. I've had good luck with Wildgame Innovations too, not to be confused with Wildview (junk). Chasingame.com does great impartial reviews. Don't put the extra G in that website or you get a porn site of some kind. You can buy a very good camera now for $60 if you don't care about being the newest. All the major brands are pretty good but Chasingame.com reviews always show Cuddyback as low performers and at one time they were considered the gold standard.

Instead of using a camera with a view screen, use an SD card reader or better yet, swap the card and read it on your computer. Then you can sort, organize, and store the pics by location, individual deer, and so on. A 2 pack of 8 gig cards runs about 25 dollars at fleet and 8 gig will hold more pics than you care to look at.

Or buy a card reader for your cell phone, a decent one is only about $25. I just got one a week or so ago. Darn handy, but I still like swapping out chips and looking at them on a full size computer. I think it will come in handy during deer season when I can swap the chips and look at them from my deer stand or even right at the camera for real time feedback.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Leap-Outdoors-Trail-or-Game-Camera-Viewer-SD-Card-Reader-for-Apple-iPhone-or-/262666595412?hash=item3d28262c54:g:j2UAAOSw-CpX-poZ

heres the one I bought but it looks like everybody makes them now. I think Gander Mt even carries them. If this doesn't work just go to ebay and you'll see tons of them. The cheapies under about $10 sometimes don't scroll thru pictures and that can be a pain and super slow.

That one says $38 but mine was about $26, same brand, you can look up Leap Outdoors also, it came in 3 days too.

I have a moultrie and an old Bushnell.  I like the sd card too.  I just bring an extra card along and swap them out and go put it in the computer.  It is great fun.  The wife and I both like seeing what is on the cards.  Then we erase (format) it so it is clean and ready for next Saturdays swap.  We swap them every Saturday.  When we are a ways from home and bear baiting we bring the lap top so we can look at the pics in the truck.  We do one near our home all year long.  Just fun to see what critters are around.

Sorry Reinhard, me too, I don't usually pile on like that. I did just notice you asked about one with a viewer. That is usually an option that costs more on the camera than a separate viewer or card reader costs, and the viewers are very small.  I thought like you till about 5 years ago, now I have 5 out. And like LPS does, they are great fun to have out all year somewhere. I can't believe how much wildlife I have in my yard right in the city of Brainerd. I've had a blue fox, red fox, tons of deer, raccoons, skunks, woodchucks, cats and dogs and other misc stuff. Since they came out with better battery life like the AA's have I think I only changed batteries on the one in the backyard once this year. The old C cells were every 2 weeks and that got expensive.

My leaf river cameras have a viewing screen, they are old and have not failed me .....yet....knock on wood. .... screen is very small, I'm sure they have better ones by now. Mine are probably 10 years old now, one of the first digital ones,  and I  payed 400 a piece back then.

I may be in the market for a new one too.  My old Bushnell which is 10 years old eats up batteries pretty fast.  My Moultrie which is 3 or 4 years old is much better.

I don't have any that have the chip view screen on the
. I run moultries(my most durable) also have 2 wildgame innovations(ok for the price) 1 seen that's made by cuddeback(expensive peice of junk) and 1 stealth cam(worked for less then a year) I have nothing but good things to say about moultries and they make most of the cameras affordable 65-150$ I bought the lower end ones and they both run off "C" cell batteries and I only need to change the batteries once a year. The pictures may not be super high quality but they take good enough pictures for you to get a clear picture. Fleet farm always has specials on cameras and cards. Just get a couple cards and switch them out. You can get a portable chip reader for 70-80$ I got the wildgame innovations tablet that I check my cards with that's excellent. Hope this helps.

I will say my c cell cameras, the oldest, were on 24 hrs a day when somebody would throw bags of corn around my deer stand so they took millions of crow and squirrel pictures where my newer ones I use primarily at night except for a month or so at deer season. That is probably a factor in my feelings about the 2 battery styles, but the battery life on the newer cameras is still far superior to the older ones. Are there any newer ones made for c cells anymore?

i have an older trail camera also. it used d-cell batteries and ate them up like no tomorrow. so i bought what amounts to a pack that hooked up to it was nothing more then a vex battery.

i dont use them anymore. my deer hunting area is 8 miles from the cabin and a mile off the main road. use to set it up when we had a feeder out for the deer put we quit doing that also.

sure it be awesome to see all the wildlife pictures but not really into it. i may set it up the next time i get a bear license.

I have 6 volt sealed type batteries and use them on 2 of my cameras. It works better than AA or D cells. The other one has a battery pack that is 2 6V in parallel and that one only needs charging once a year. They pay for themselves the first time you change batteries.
