Thinking of taking a trip up to Devils lake late January or February looking for advice on where to stay or go with a guide or no guide any advice is appreciated

havi g never been ther but only summer, winter time id go with a guide, i thi k also ther prettymuch one resort that plows.

I would check out Woodland Resort.  I've heard good things about them and they have the most options for lodging and guiding options.  Also a nice bar and restaurant on property.  The time frame you mention sounds a little early for the best bite, but you should be able to catch some fish then also.  Good luck!

Hotels I have stayed in over the last couple years and DO NOT recommend are Americas Best, Fireside, and Super 8 and the Casino.

If the fish are biting you wont need a guide.

 If you stay within view of the road, Casino or town you wont get lost.

Check the moon charts, they work, also try and go when it is above zero but Im sure you know that.
