Anybody seen ice yet?

My north pond had skim ice on it yesterday, while my south pond was still open in the middle.

Drove by the lake yesterday afternoon, and that was still open.

Going to check the channel tonight...I'm getting itchy...  :fishing2:

With just a fresh coat of ice, an angler steps outside his portable fish house on the Crow Wing River southwest of Pillager Tuesday. With several bodies of water remaining open, people are advised to stay off the ice until cold weather assures a greater ice thickness. The DNR recommends 4 inches of ice for foot traffic. You Got It!

Rush Lake is still open....

Checked ice in the channel between rush lakes....some ice forming, but bad ice. Spud went through just off of shore.

after careful thought and consideration i've come to the conclusion its da generals and boars fault we have no ice!!!!!!!!!! boar purty's up his house with all those blinking red lites, adds auxiliary items and well, da general buys dis big fancy fishhouse!!!!!!!!!!!!

gotta be the reason!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm ready, the lake is not. Stood down by the shore this morning in the wind and blowing snow watching the waves wash ashore. The only ice I saw was on shore where the waves had been washing up.  Need these  winds to die down. Doesn't look like that is going to happen until Friday. Then they are predicting 3-6 inches of snow for Saturday.  that could screw up what little ice we have by then.

Posting this here and in the Minnesota - Specific areas forum.
Woke up to some ice on Lake Osakis this morning. Had ice from shore out to about 200 feet, just to the outside edge of the rushes. Ice is only about 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick and is not good ice. Gray in color and soft. Mixed with the blowing snow last night as it froze. The ice that is there has a dusting to 1 inch of snow on it. Should make some better ice the next couple of days with no more snow until Saturday. That 1-3 inches of snow on Saturday could be a problem with the thin ice that we will have by then.

nothing but white caps on the old LOTW last night. I would guess if the wind stops blowing this weekend it will start locking up.

yesterday afternoon on my way to st cloud for a meeting, and it wasnt a good one, locke lake by hasty was wide open and schroeder lake by clearwater was mostly covered with ice. this morning BOTH  lakes were completely locked up!!!!!!!!!! good progress. and based on da wedder people looks like most the snow will stay in rochester where it belongs till enough ice is made!!!!!!

They're predicting 6-8 here today into tomorrow. Our lake  was locked up yesterday according to 1 report.

6-8" down here, too. Just past the skim ice stage. The snow's gonna fudge THAT up big time.

Guess Highbanks on Winnie posted on Facebook they have 9 inches of ice 1 mile out from there place! If they got that our lake gas a foot. New years it's game on. Da fishies. Best be scared, real scared!!!
