  He has been kind of busy.   The Feds have been shaking down the bait shops in Ely confiscating Ciscos and records.    :

I think he's hold up in his Borgie hideout under the porch at da shop. He's more scared in July when Borgie comes to town then when the feds are look-in for um! But, I will say he's more cold under that there porch in December than July without any heat

Yup, many of the lakes froze over the last two days. 
As far as the rumor that the Feds raided my bait shop, 100% true. 
Two came through the door on December 1st, about 2:30 pm.  I was closed, but let them in when they said they wanted to ask a few questions, and wouldn't be long.
About 20 minutes later, another 10 or so US Fish & Wildlife agents came through the door with a search warrant, all with body armor and pistols.
They proceeded to tear my computer apart, took my last four years of tax records, check receipts, bank statements, and ALL MY CISCOES.
I haven't heard a thing since.
Last Monday, after making some phone calls, I had Nolan's aide, Klobuchar's aide, Representative Rob Ecklund, and County Commissioner Tom Rukavina stop in the shop last Monday and informed them what happened.
Nolan's office had a conference call with USF&W, and they would not say anything, so it's a waiting game.
It was a very strong armed raid, and still not sure what the meaning of it was.  I believe it was politically motivated and will see if my theories hold true when this crap is over.
It was fortunate that Ely Echo Editor Nick Wognum was at Mike's Liquor Store just across the parking lot and took some pictures as the raid was going on.
I left the shop about 4:40 pm.
US Fish & Wildlife agent, Kevin Downs called my house about 7:15 that evening to tell me they were done and locking the shop.
There was a simultaneous raid going on at LaTourell's Outfitters, and another house in Ely.

   It's 100% true.  My Cliff notes version.  The US has put so many regs. on MN bait dealers that they should not be able to sell Ciscoes.  Canada has has sealed up their border so tight that someone must be catching them on the wrong side of the border or importing ciscoe's illegally.  That border breach must be stopped.  I would expect lot's of money was exchanged to politicians in order to make sure that bait can only be purchased by government approved companies.   Not facts just my short version.  Totally political.
