Here's a photo of our garden this year. Two rows of sweat corn, a couple pumpkin plants, five or six cucumbers plants, three rows of green beans, peas, a couple squash plants, a couple zucchini, four pepper plants, two egg plants, two tomato plants, and we had a lot of asparagus, but we’ve let them go to seed now.

Think I'm done with pickles, I have 30 quarts done of one kind....may do some more of the 🍞 and butter....but I have Pepper's coming out my 👂's....time to dehyrate. Picked a little tonight, but I could easily pick a 5 gallon bucket.

So dehydrating is the way to preserve peppers?  We froze our jalapenos the last couple years.  They look great frozen but are real soft when thawed out.  Good idea on the dehydrating of them.  I will have to learn how to do that now.  Need another toy. A dehydrator is on my list now.

Had a dehydrator 20 years ago but the ex got it.  Only did jerky a couple of times and banana slices.  lol  Rookie things.  I guess we need one.  What is a good one?

so HD, what kind of peppers do you all dehydrate? Do you mix them up, crush them?? I buy these crushed red peppers and thought of brewing up a concotion similar when the jug I have is gone.

Barry...get this one!!!! Usually go on sale about now at Fleet Farm for $55. LOVED MINE! Lotsa great features others don't have...dried lotsa peppers and jerky in mine. Precise temp setting is necessary for food safety with jerky, this has all different temp settings and horizontal airflow. Five big trays stack on top of each other, can use as many or few as ya want. I heartily recommend it!    :happy1:

I dry most of the Anaheim, Jalapeno and Serrano peppers. That way we can put some in different meals over the next year.

Once in a while we get a mature Anaheim that surprises us in how hot it is. If ya can't shoot that critter trap it, either a live trap or a leghold. A bit of corn with some peanut butter smeared on it would work great.

Mum's the word...  He and his buddies are being ....never mind.  There must be a skwirrel factory around here. Counted fifteen in the yard a few weeks ago!  I just picked 9 beauties, about 15 more just about ready. I've already eaten 15 so far... :azn: Not too bad for one plant that got a late start. They're all perfect too; no cracks or poor spots.

'Mater's, ya nitwit! Total of 24 so far. I keep a running count every year on my calendar.  Usually can do 60-75 early girls off one plant. I'm guessin' maybe 45 or so off this one.
