Guys, I'm wondering how many forum members here are lake of the woods regulars or even annual trip types?

I'm a regular for ice fishing season, I haven't been out on open water for several years, kind of gave up the boat thing, no time in the summer.

Anyone else?

It's nice to have some specific chatter going from different parts of the lake. I'd be in for some fishing dialog on my weekly successes/failures if there's any other members here to bounce information off of?

I try to be a regular, winter or summer. But projects tend to get in my way some. One would think when I only live a 100' from the lake I would be out there everyday. Maybe when I retire. I do get out there more in the winter though. It does seem like hardly no posts here on the LOTW forum. I will do my best to post on a regular basis along with you Dave.
Hey look your bobber is up!

i used to be a reugular up there along the south shore from zipple to south tip, but once red lake got her hooks into me ive had a very hard time leaving, im trying to break away to LOW, the diversity is an atractive incentive, but years of the bucket stretchers compared to the quality of red lakle walleyes is hard to beat. ive plans on getting back up there more often tho.

Awesome.

Alright, I do plan on dragging my tandem axle house out there this week so we can ring in the new year on the ice.  My sights are set on DNR reef out of springsteel.

I have a friend setting a big skid house out there today, I expect I'll hear from him how things go. You may know him, Boar knows him.

I was going to start hauling stuff to the lake tonight and finish on friday. Basically I was going to pull my wheel house to the lake with my 3/4 ton with the V plow, stage it along shore. Then come back on Friday after work with an old half ton beater truck for pulling it out to a fishing spot.

But, I've since learned that my wife has Monday off, so I'm thinking I could just as well take monday off too. That being the case, we will hitch up Saturday morning to the wife's new ecoboost, to the lake and to the spot with the same truck (and in the daylight).

I'm anticipating zoo-like behavior and a dense population out on the ice.... dense behavior too...

New years weekend, lot's of young folks out partying.

The ice roads that ARE going to let trucks on are likely to see some high speed, incredibly stupid driving this weekend. Please friends, do your part to help explain to the young guys you may personally have an impression on. Nephews, a sons, grandsons... Explain if you would, the danger, the damage to ice roads, the anger etc that the high speed lake running causes. Especially on virgin ice roads, brand new stuff that's just barely good enough to open to public traffic.

A lot of these people simply have no idea, clueless to the anger they cause, the potential damage and safety threats to themselves and others, they just don't know.

The ones really raising hell aren't even fishing. Just out drinking and ripping around, trucks racing, whipping crapties, baha-ing off the plowed roads, smashing through the road berms...

flying past your house doing 50 mph, almost take your door off when you swing it open to see WTF is going on...

That's the sort of thing I'm expecting on new years weekend

Hey boar, question.

Does sour cream go "bad"? Or does it simply go "worse"?

Just got word that Adrians have closed their road to vehicles at least for awhile.  A big crack occurred overnight and they are  trying to get a bridge over it.  I "heard" it is about 14' wide...

The way I understand it, the east side in general is having a hell of a time with crack and breaker problems.
