I asked my agent about extra coverage and he said you are covered to policy limits, UNLESS HOUSE IS UNLOCKED. With a rider for my firearms I was also covered for mysterious disappearances. If a gun was left in the field and not found it would be covered after deductible. With the amount charged for the rider I cancelled the rider figuring I could replace or add a new gun in about 3 years.
My gun safe is recessed and bolted to the floor and wall so they would pay hell to get it out to work on. Of course if no one is home when they break in they have all the time they need.

My house insurance covers up to $3g on the guns, anything after that, I need a rider. I needed the rider for my handguns, which also covers some antiques. Wasn't really very much, $60 a year from State Farm. The guns are well hidden away  behind a false wall area no one is ever gonna find.
