Treated lumber is on sale, plus the 11 % rebate...Time for another deer stand build. This one will prolly kill me....It will be placed on the far corner of the property, across a 40 acre swamp. It's frozen, so now is the time to haul the lumber out by dragging it a few pieces at a time.

I love new lumber.

Pray tell, how do you get the lumber across a 40 acre swamp?  Carry in piece by piece?

The swamp is frozen right now, so the plan is to drag as much of it as I can with the 4 wheeler. Then, as I progress I will have to carry the smaller stuff by hand if it starts to melt.

Are you going to drag them at those lengths?  How do you cut it when you get out there?

Sounds like an adventure.

Right now, I have the lumber in the garage melting the ice off of it. Then I will pre-cut and pre-drill, dry fitting it here. Once I get that part done, then yes, I will pack the cordless drills, tools and generator out with the lumber. If the swamp thaws out before then, it will be just hand tools, and cordless in a back pack.

Nope, this deer stand will be different.... this will be a stand, that, once you get there, you stay there. It's going to have a cot, swivel chair, stove, windows and solar panels. This stand will be surrounded by 500 acres of swamp....and I won't be leaving till I shoot a deer....

Only problem is getting the deer out, once I drop it....but, I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.
