I had both, the regular mat and a mesh grill mat. I never used the regular mat, in fact I tossed it before even using it. I use the mesh grill mat in my smoker when making either whole muscle or jerky gun jerky. It makes it so much easier, your not fighting with the smaller pieces of meat always falling through the racks
if you kick me when I'm down you better pray I don't get up.

I received one as a gift a year or two ago.  I don't always use it but it actually works pretty good for burgers and chicken.  You do get the sear marks and there are no flare ups.  It adds another thing to clean up afterwards though.

I imagine Reb and Smurf still enjoy rubbing two sticks together to start their homemade charcoal up and grill a Sirloin.  Theres just one way to do it.  Sirloin, baked spud and corn.  Perfected it in 1974 so why the heck change it.  Sous Vide?  "I don't boil my Sirloin"  Grill Mat?  "Tried it in '73 once but in '74 I perfected my method."  :bonk: :bonk: :bonk:  Eggs on the grill?  "Blasphemy"    tut_tut-3315.gif

I like the idea like Coffee said for the mat for jerky..  I use a jerky rack right now which fits perfect in the smoker. I think there are uses for many things and for the smoker for jerky this would be a great tool.  good luck.

You call that grilling? I call that heating food! A grillers best friend is cast iron not plastic for doing different meals on the grill. The sad part is this guy has probably made boat loads off of the suckers out there.
