I have a buddy who's kid works at some kinda game-bird rearing facility, or something like that.  It's way out in the boonies. Said they shot some of the pheasants that got out or are "stragglers" today. He's a law abiding big azz hunter, but I wonder about this...it it legal out of season?
Also, he has porky's nosing around his property, and he hates them. Blew a couple away the other day....I don't agree with that. Never seen a porky do anything destructive, other than gnaw on axe handles because of the "salt" in them from sweat. Thoughts?

Welp, Cody works at a game farm that offers hunts, and the employees can hunt the "left over" birds on the property...legal

The pigs, are considered an invasive species....and I believe can be harvested whenever....

Well, I be danged! Thanks, guys! Kinda wondered, as this guy breaking the law just isn't like him. Why is porky considered an "invasive species"? I kinda like the sauntering little guys!

Q: How is Mayo Clinic different from a porkypine?

A: At Mayo, all the pricks are on the inside:rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

I used to go to a game farm and shoot pheasants a couple of times a year in the off season for hunting.  What a great time for us and the dogs.  You can shoot the  stragglers that get out of the farm but only during pheasant season.  You can shoot them on the farm anytime.

Game farm birds that escape shooters are called "scratch birds" and yes you can take them any time the farm is open w/o a license, got a couple near my house that i run my dog on,I'll check every so often when some corperate company comes in and have 50 to 100 pheasants released, they tell me they only bagged a few dozen, then its a green light, good excerise for me and the pup.Feral pigs and cats? you bet,I'll scratch'em all whenever and where ever I find them just like yotes and fox.

Up in my next of the woods we have a sporting clay range on a game farm. you shoot a round then go pop a few birds afterwards. Good days

Porcupines invasive species? Maybe unprotected but no reason they would be considered invasives.

porkypines are hard on trees.  They eat bark and tend to kill the tops of trees.  Back in the day folks were encouraged to kill them.

They also are really hard on bird dogs.   Nothing like a snoot full of quills in a valuable beloved dog to irritate the paying customers.

That's a good point dew2.  Years ago we used to see quite a few of them while  chasing grouse,  but lately I haven't seen any. Good thing.
