Just wondering what everyone else thinks of this crisis.

I will post my opinion if anyone wants, but as I used to tell the officers I worked for in the Navy, If your afraid of the answer, don't ask the question.

Here's the question that I want answered...  Why is it that when a record High is broken, the previous record that it beat by only a degree or 2 was from the late 1800s or the 1930s?  I'm not sure, but I can't imagine we had too many greenhouse gases back then.

well... as another former canoe club member, I’ll give my opinion.

I think there might be some global warming, but due to the earths natural conditions.  has everyone forgotten that we are still technically coming out of an ice age...  i don't believe for one minute its because of humans, cars, factories, farting cows...
Everything contributes a little bit, but in general it was going to happen with or with out us.  How many cars were there back in the dinosaur age when Minnesota was a lake?

??? GOLBAL WARMING? To the point. man has always had a hand in it ! from the first time he or she took a dunk to the fires he used to keep himself warm. from their first breath to their last, as to the point of mans impact on GOBAL WARMING ??  maybe not man, but MOTHER NATURE has had her hands and fingers in it far longer then we as man could ever understand ! but as a contribution to the problem and crisis he could do better with what nature has given him to use and not destroy. in other words it,s always exisited and always will !   :o

Back in the 70's scientists were predicting a global cool down because of the colder temps. from the 40's thru the 70's. Now its global warming hysteria. The earth has always functioned with peaks and valleys. 10 to 20 yrs from now could be record breaking lows again.
I heard that every time a space shuttle breaks through the earths atmosphere, it not only opens up a huge hole but also lets off enough gas plume to equal what man emits in 3 years time.
Mother earth has a way of healing herself, I just don't by the whole global warming concept.

The earth has a way of taking care of itself. It will do so with or without us. If the cause would be us as humans, something will happen to get rid of us. I think perch destroyer is on target with his post.

Its good to see we are all pretty much n agree ment on this, myself included.  I find it hard to believe that Man is soley responsible.  Besides. This past week kinda throws a wrench in the gears of the theory completely.

So what are you guys scientist? Meteorologists? Climatologists?

I think it is over all of your heads. Just because you read a book or watched a TV show now your experts and have something to say.

I guess your entitled to your own opinion but c'mon. How about something at your level like what do sunfish eat and what is their favorite food?

As old as the earth is global warming is out of our hands. Sure Man can pollute, dump waste etc. But man can not control the weather, we can not cause a volcano to erupt. cause earthquakes, hurricanes etc. We can only do our part to be stewards of our earth.

I agree with DuaneW completely, but would like to add:

While I believe global warming to be a farce, I also believe all the polution, both manmade and natural have not helped the situation.  It is my belief that the earth has weather cycles, and we are currently in a warming cycle-completely natural.  I mean, we've only been keeping weather records for what 100-150 yrs?  Who's to say what the weather was like 500 or more years ago.  Who's to say what it was 5,000 yrs ago?  So with that being said, all we can do is our part to recycle, reduce & reuse.  All living things die-and the earth is a living thing.  But I don't think the earth will die naturally-man will see to that!  (Given the psychos who have nukes nowdays)

Global warming?  Look outside.  April 1st and 7-10 inches of new snow.  There's so much conflicting info from sceintists, lies from Gore, half truths by the media, distorted headlines, etc it's hard to say what is and isn't true.  All I know is when it's hot old Don is on CCO telling us the sky is falling.  When we have a day like yesterday he is silent.

I'll post my opinion on global warming opinion when the political parties can agree on an answer. I don't know if anyone else has noticed this but scientists are not the one's yelling at the top of their lungs. It is DC and Hollywood. I realize that they get the airtime, but they are the same crowd that yells about everything. Turn away if you are a liberal! - The "left" creates these things to make us more dependants on government. They want to take every angle they can to make us feel like we can't do anything without them. It is the same thing with universal health care and welfare. How dependant will we be on the government if they convince us that we NEED these things? The point, in my opinion, is to be less dependant. Capitalism (the sole reason we are the great nation that we are) needs us to be less dependant. Sharing the wealth does not create excellence, competition does. Putting everyone in the hands of the government will not create motivation for individuals; it will create dependence and mediocrity. The government does have an awesome responsibility; roads, mail, regulation, laws, justice, protection and creating opportunity. Beyond that, I take faith in God and fellow man for care and advancement. I don’t want to be taken care of. And if I did... I already have a great mother. I don't need another one. PS: as some of you know – I tend to loose track of myself. I hope I have made a point in this mess of a post. ~ Greg

I think we are affecting the earth to some degree like NG said, but if ya realize how old our planet is, how little of that time humans have been on it, and then how very few years we have been keeping records of the weather, I find it amusing that we make these statements sounding like we have all the answers... remember when humans thought the world was flat and the sun revolved around the earth.... those things used to be "facts".... We really think we know it all/got it all figured out, dont we? :whistling:

P.S.  Remember just 30 years ago Time magazine had a cover story stating it was conclusive to sciencetists that the earth was cooling.  Coo coo, coo coo.  I wonder what the whacky left had for a solution back then.  I was 7 or 8 at the time, so I have no idea what they did to solve it to the point that we now have global warming.
