Read Pat McManus's "The Claw of the Sea Puss", for a funny story about that. 'Nanners have ALWAYS been considered bad luck on a boat, and many years ago, often were NOT allowed on small ships/boats. I heard it came from the fact that banana bunches often have tarantula spiders hiding in them...... :shocked:
In fact, my boat was called the "sea Puss" for a long time, by my buddies, 'cuz my friend Erv brought out a banana from his lunch box when we were fishing one day...and the story spread. (We were all McManus fans)
