I was told I will be getting a pressure cooker for Christmas this year.  Anybody have any recipes they would like to share?

Congrats! I have one on my list.  We'll see if I made it off the Naughty list or not. ;)

I want to primarily use it for canning but my sister uses hers for all kinds of things from beef and pork roasts to homemade yogurt - I tried some over Thanksgiving and It' s WAY better than what you get in the store.  Pretty amazing devices. I'm sure your manual will have recipes to try, but I'll be also following this thread for ideas if Santa is good to me.

I have one but sorry no special recipes. Ive made pork and beef roasts as I would in a crockpot or roasting pan in the oven, the nice thing is it only takes about an hour to an hour and a half depending on the size. I found out not to put the veggies in at the beginning or they will turn to mush. I usually cook the roast for 30 minutes, release the pressure and add the veggies and restart for an hour. The best part is the time savings and how moist everything is. It only took 2 hours to cook a 5 lb pork butt to make pulled pork instead of 6 to 8 hours in the smoker.

We have several between here & the lake, seem like the oldest ones get used the most. Mostly canning, beef & pork roasts, making soups & stews. Keeps everthing moist & tender. :happy1:

A pressure cooker and a pressure canner are two different things.  A pressure canner is bigger so you can put the jars in it. We have a pressure cooker and I haven't used it as much as I should.  We did chicken wings from frozen and they turned out great.  I want to do a roast in it.  My Grandma used to do that and they were great.

I have one and haven't used it yet.  When I got it I bought a book that really helps.  Called Great Foods Fast.  Lot's of recipes in that plus you can google a bunch and pick one out.  Both my daughters love theirs.  good luck.

I was specific to request the 10qt. so I could fit some mason jars in there.  That'a the biggest digital unit they make.

We bought a small (3 qt)  digital pressure cooker for our niece for Christmas, what we have is much bigger as they all have been used to can. Very old school with twist on lids & replaceable seal rings,  not digital.

We also got her a cookbook she had on her list to go with the pressure cooker. It's called" The Instant Pot Electric Pressure Cooker Cookbook" by Laurel Randolph. It's available on Amazon for < $7, I think. Over 200,000 copies sold, if anybody's interested.
