My wife wanted me to go with her to bring a granddaughter to a dance practice.  The studio happens to be near Cabelas and she said I could go wander around there for and hour during the practice.  Well, I ended up buying a Lowrance Elite 9TI fish finder/chart plotter.  My son who usually runs the trolling motor, uses a small gray scale depth finder which does little more than display the depth, when it works.  I'm sure he will be happy when I move the one I use in the driver seat now (Lowrance Elite 9) to the front so I don't have to keep telling him where to go.   :rotflmao:
Is it too early to be thinking about open water fishing?

This one has touch screen, down scan, and side imaging.

That's a GREAT fish finder!!!! Love the side imaging; my fishing partner has the Elite 7 in his new boat. Lowrance is all he'll use.....You're gonna love that unit... :happy1:

Well you now won't have to go to any more of those events.  OR just spend more the next time.

 Just replaced the 1 on our dash last Spring. Ours is the Lowrance HDS 7, I think  & has many of the same features. Changing the 1 on the bow this Spring too. I really like our new 1 :happy1:

Anyone know about the Hummingbird Helix 7 CHIRP GPS G2N?  I may have a possibility of getting one.  With the Ice and Boat options included.  Lake maps of over 10,000 lakes too.  Has a wide view but I don't think it has side sonar.  Otherwise I like the Lowrance Hook 7.

It does have SI....and the bottom hardness auto chart mapping....I like that. Plus you can network it with 2 or more. (That's what the "N" sands for)
And to think all those years I got by with my dual beam H-bird wide-eye ... ;)

I have no experience with Hummingbird.  I know they "talk" to some of the latest Minnkota Trolling motors.

their customer service used to be great, but the past few years, I've heard it's been lousy....this on the eir ice units, anyway. Other than that, don't know how they fare. They kept up with the technology pretty good. I do like the Lowrance units though. Never seen any issues with them at the tourneys we did. Lots of 'em out there.

We had to replace the 1 on the dash last season as the transducer on the old 1 was done in by a critter. :mad1: The new 1 for the bow is the Hook 7 that you mentioned LPS. We going to replace the Ram mount on the dash too as it won't hold the new bigger unit.

Deadeye, the Lowrance units "talk to" & send data share info with the Xi5 Motorguide  trolling motors. Heck, they might even mix a drink for ya.... :rotflmao:

Reb,
Good to know and LPS, not off track just good info as there are differing likes and dislikes with brands.  As I said, I got this at Cabelas and was priced at $600.  However, they give you a $50 gift card and triple points so that's another $40.  So that got the price down to $510.  This also includes the North American Navionics chip, a $200 value and free installation, a $150 value.  Note: This is the Elite 9i (1) and does not have Bluetooth interface.

That sounds great DE.  That will be fun to play with.  I like all brands actually.  So much fun to get a new toy.  Looks like I am getting the Helix 7.  A dealer of mine gave me a good deal on it.  Big upgrade from what I have.
