Sure now that dakids let the cat out of the bag, I can't use my grandsons buck and have to use my 9 point to enter.

OK Dakids, here's the story
First, I'm a meat hunter and really not a trophy hunter. I hunt with my buddy on his 15 acres near Merrifield.
My buddy shot about 6:45, he texted me about 7 saying he shot a buck, ended up being nice 9 pointer, but was going to sit for a while before field dressing it. I said good, not to spook any more coming through. About 7:15 this boy came through at about 110 yards, I could see it had horns but I thought it was one of the 8 pointers. One shot, ran about 40 yards and piled up. Gave it about 5 minutes, walked over and dressed it out. Texted my buddy that I was bring the cart back to him so we could bring his out. Got back to him and was watching him gut his out and a doe came walking through the pines, since were in a disease management area we had more tags so I dropped her. Needless to say we had a lot of work ahead of us.

I did not have this buck on my trail cams this years but I did have a video of him last year a week before season at night and he was chasing and grunting. My buddy had a few more pics of him this year but all at night. We had more bucks, mostly smaller ones, than does on our trail cams. I would say less than a 100 yards from my stand I have at least 11 different scrapes and only 1 rub.

With all that has gone on this year, having Covid in July (really wasn't anything but tested +) 2 surgeries and other medical issues, I'm thinking my dad and my buddy from the heavens sent me this one. Only thing that would have made this better would have been my daughter/best hunting buddy could have been here. Really miss that. She did surprise me last year and flew in from Colorado to sit with me opening weekend.

Yea Markn it measures 21-1/2 on the inside. It would have been nice to see what was on the end of the right antler but since early October the front has been missing, as per the earliest pic we have of him this year.

He's going to be dropped off at Trophy Skulls in Bemidji for a European mount on Saturday.

Well.....I didn't shoot one this year. Interesting story though. Had a chance at a nice 5X5 just at dark. Hunting along the edge of a field. He was standing just inside the trees. Couldn't find him in the scope as the trees were dark. He bolted across the field towards the highway. All of a sudden we heard a crash. Walked back to our pickup and drove over there. He was laying in the ditch. He had rolled up on the hood and totaled out the windshield. The guy who hit him was a hunter with a tag.
10 minutes earlier and I would have dropped him. Oh well....just my luck this year. :pouty: :pouty:

I would have tagged him if the guy hadn't been a hunter with a tag. He was a real nice mature buck. My brother who hunts there had him on camera. So we knew he was there. He had shot a big 8 pointer there earlier in the season. The guy probably totaled his car.
