Puppy picks

Ok this is the about 6 month old male dog at the Humane Society here in town.  What a cute dog.  He is a stray so they know nothing about him.  Seems like someone dropped him off in the area.  They don't know if he is pointer, or what.  Looks like a Walker coonhound to my brother who used to raise and hunt them.  Maybe is a cross of spaniel and something.  ????   They said he is real mellow and pretty quiet.  I have first dibs after they have him neutered next week.  I would like to visit him again first.

If he gets "fixed" he is more likely to stick around home.

Is he chipped? Or going to be chipped?

I could care less what it costs to get chipped, I will go for it.   As mentioned wandering is the biggest issue with pups and young dogs.  I am hoping Buddy will help teach him to stick around.

Looks like a nice pup there Barry! We used to use the invisible fencing for our dogs. Worked great.

If you pull the trigger lps you can always do the dog ancestry test, my kid did that with a pooch he got.  The results were pretty interesting,  turns out a pure bred beotch in heat got out and did the deed with a mutt, it had it all broke down on what its mixed with.

That is interesting Bobber.  I would do that.  I am not for sure taking him but I do like the looks of him.  I really want a lab or Golden but the wife said I can't spend that much money on a dog.  I said well how about if I find a good deal for a thousand bucks.  She said that is still too much.

I looked into those this morning. Temping. Found some chocolate labs for 600 bucks to.

Googled a few humane society too. One had what looked like an older yellow lab.

Just reserved a Golden/Lab mix male puppy.  They have one left.  Pine River area.

These are the two pups the lady in Pine River has available.  The light colored one is still available.  I too the darker one.  The mother is a black lab and 70 lbs.  The father is a Golden Retriever and is 95 lbs.  They are both great family dogs and the pups are real friendly too.

Oh ya they are $300 and ready to pick up on Dec 22.  The lady is registered with the Animal Board of Health.  Thanks Bobber for the idea to look at the Duluth paper classifieds.

Cute puppies! We had a golden/lab mix when I was a kid. Great dog with kids. Best rat and gopher dog we ever had!

She said they should be great hunters.  She said she sells pups to a lot of hunters and shed hunters.

Look at the melon on them pups!! I made the mistake on showing the wife..   Going to be some great pooches!! Glad it worked out lps.

I need to talk to da misses. I've got reservation about a new pup right now with the old sheltie and potty training during the winter but man this is a deal.
