Even though it's a little late, had a hen mallard woddle up to my backyard bushes, guessing she was looking to drop her egg's as the male bachelor's were hog piling on her all last week.

local geese have youngens already on my creek so maybe this hen mallard lost her 1st nest, nature,,guess ducks, pheasants will nest multipal times when nests are distroyed,it was good to see her and luckly my pup didn't see her come up,he was to busy with his chuck-it ball.

Anyone else notice early hatches?

Friend of mine has a pond across the driveway from his house. The Canada geese must've hatched early there, sometime in April as they were already over half grown a couple weeks ago.

Thanks mike89.  If you blow up the second one you can see one of the chicks hiding in the grass.  Looks like whenever the chicks were not moving, they squatted in the grass to become less visible.

Out on the lake today I seen a young bald eagle pop up in the nest. One of the adults was close. Trolled by it twice, never moved,  :happy1: was awesome to see.

All of us here just got to watch 10 wood duck chick's jump out of one of the boxes, one was a little late but caught up to the rest. She led em down ti the lake but shortly after a bunch of Pelicans and cormorants showed up. Not sure if they'll take the chick's but hopefully she had em in the weeds yet...

D.E. that's great....However never seen sandhills in a tight environment like in your pic, they are such wary birds, always out in wide open spaces except at your place.\
