Jr and I went out, it was brutal cold sitting on the ice.... but I didn't get skunked! Only 3.5 inches in east central Minnesota.

An 80-year-old man was killed Friday morning after crashing his truck through the ice on the southeastern end of Mille Lacs Lake.

The Mille Lacs County Sheriff's Office says it happened  near MSA Flagship Inn in the town of Isle, where a 911 caller reported the crash as well as a person in the water.

The caller was able to bring them to shore. The victim was subsequently pronounced dead at an area hospital

So not far out from shore there is a trail that fishermen travel on to go to fish houses downriver.  I see that trail is dark looking like slush.  Now they are making a trail further out in the river.

Not sure if it was talked about on another post here, but the victim was Dickie that ran ice roads out on the lake and did launches for years. Sad deal. I knew him just a little, have friends that have known him for years.

any idea where this happened.......what resort????? or if they went out on a public access????

aint no effin way i'm going out on any lake with a vehicle the way the ice has formed this year. a buddy wants to go to red yet this year......i'm gonna pass!!!!!!

Personally I think there pushing there luck driving vehicles out much less with ice houses  :doofus:

Reports of up to a foot of ice on Clear Lake in Waseca. Some driving on. Saw a bunch of portables on St. Olaf on Saturday late afternoon, about the time the crappie bite usually happens.
