Has anyone ever tried to make venison bacon?

only had the stuff from the locker plants and it's good stuff!!!

A friend of mine did that 3-4 years ago. He said it was alright.

ive had some venny bacon made by von hansons and was ok.........would i waste venision on having venny bacon made.........no!!!!! but then thats just me!!!!!!!

You would need a slicer. Basically can't slice it thin enough with a knife if you want it to be like bacon. I've tried it using....."Sweeter Than Sweet" It was OK. Haven't recently. Like other things made from venison.

It is pronounced "Daymers" though. Used to love there stuff until they screwed me over. That was almost 30 years ago now. Man I feel old.

Someone gave me a pack they had done at Grundhofer's Old-Fashion Meats in Hugo.  It was more like thin sliced Spam than bacon, but I REALLY liked the stuff.  Fry on both sides and you have "easy" breakfast venison!   :happy1:
