Is it a bearded hen?

I don't think I ever saw a bearded hen so I'm not sure
but this really looks like a hen to me. What do you think.

Very nice shot.  I wouldn't have know it was a hen if I was hunting and saw her.  The beard would have meant Tom to me.  I am not a turkey aficionado like you are though.

Yes, that is a bearded hen. I have 2 that frequent my bird feeders.
They are a legal bird to harvest in the spring because of the beard.
I personally wouldn't, but that's my preference.

The fall hunt the beard requirement is not valid. Either sex can be harvested.

As a relatively new turkey hunter, seeing one of these would make my head spin...especially if it was like the hen that came calling into to my decoy this spring.

I'd pass on shooting it...but then again, if the turkey wants to be a male, it must know the consequences.  LOL
