I watch this lesbian woman that cuts wool off of sheep and I have always wondered what it is worth?  So Dotch your sheep are raised for their meat right?  So is the wool not as good as some?

Yup, pretty much. Medium to coarse wool is worth $.05/lb. or less right now for the white wool. The commercial buyers won't even take the black or natural colored wool. The Cheviot breed typically produces fleeces that weigh 5 - 8 lbs. It costs $5.50/head for shearing. Do the math. Ain't nobody getting rich on that, not even the shearer. You couldn't pay me enough to do that. Wool from Merino sheep still commands a decent price but the lamb they produce isn't the greatest. The best Merino wool comes from more arid climates such as in the Rockies. Here in the midwest, we get too much rainfall and there's more foreign material in the wool to take out. Most of the yarn for sweaters & other high end woolen garments comes from Merinos. If you ever get the chance to go thru the Faribault Woolen Mill I'd highly recommend it. Now, we could go after the hand spinners more aggressively & we've had some success there but that niche market is limited & gets saturated very quickly. That and it contains a lot of women who don't shave their legs or armpits.  :rotflmao: May as well try to find some other uses for the wool.

Probably not worth as much, as when a lesbian shears it.  Is that a free or pay channel?  roony wanted to know!   :coffee:  :rotflmao:

Where else but Youtube.  I watched her shear a sheep that had been neglected for 4 years and it couldn't even see from so much wool.  As she was shearing she mentioned her wife helps her sometimes.  ???  I thought you guys would enjoy that.   :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

i hit up the local farmers market today... got a couple heads of cabbage for saurkraut. i went there for mainly to check on tomatoes.......good grief  :doah:  there hard to come by around here. the 2 local guys didnt have much of anything. one guy south of town said he planted 1500 tomato plants, twice as many as last year and wont even get half the maters he got last year. :doofus:

i ended up with a box from Novaks from Foley. 30 bucks, so i got 55 bucks in maters for canning.  :pouty: they were nice tomatoes, Willenbring from north of town, which is were i usaully do most my business if i need to told me Novaks grows there tomatoes in a green house.......no wonder they had piles of them and pretty nice ones to.

so tomorrow i'll whip up a batch of saurkraut and do up some cukes. Fiday is stewed mater day!!!!

We only have 4 plants instead of our usual 6 that overcrowds our water tank where we raise them.  Early Girls which we have had the last 3 or 4 years.  We have picked 4 so far this year.  Some green ones coming along but no bumper crop like usual.  Maybe I didn't keep water consistent.  ??

Up here I think the real cool June we had really slowed them down. Then when they  did get going at my place the dang deer chewed them down. Eventually they got going again and got about 3-4 tall and the deer has been trimming them again. I will be lucky to get a dozen tomatoes. There are some green ones right now.
Hey look your bobber is up!

Tossed a bunch of large zucchini & cukes. Still wound up with a bunch to give away. My self picking people have been slacking as of late. Auntie Mar Mar is coming up this weekend so that should help. Sweet corn is coming on. Beautiful ears, muy tasty. Picked about a dozen tomatoes last nite so they're ready to explode. Most were Champions, an early tomato. Flavor is OK but they tend to have a tough core on the upper part of the tomato I don't care for. I didn't buy those, I just stuck them in. Picked a couple Superfantastics. Like those better. I bought those... :rotflmao: String beans are going batcrap crazy. Picked a 6 quart pail full and only made it about a third of the way up the 15' row. There are 4 rows. Luckily the Blue Lake variety is a little later.  Should be plenty to freeze for several families there. Poppy has figured out that it's easier to eat the already picked beans out of the bucket rather than picking them herself.

I try to buy Vadalia or Wala Wala sweet onions.  At the store yesterday they had bags of sweet onions.  I should have known better.  They are as strong as any onion I have ever had.  Not sweet at all.  Should have hand picked individual ones as usual.  I just made a sour cream, vinegar, sugar, pepper cukes and onions.  I put a lot of onion in it before I tasted them.  May have some kick to them.

The onions didn't matter a bit.  They sucked up that sour cream and vinegar and turned out great! Then I was thinking about it, my Grandma wasn't using vidalia onions.  She was using whatever onions that she had.  I may have to sneak a run to the frig during the night.

I rescued my fall snap pea crop and salvaged the few winter radishes that made it through the August monsoon. 2 rows of Sugar Daddy snap peas look respectable and the other 2 varieties, not so much with a scattered plant here and there. Had it on the run earlier but purslane has been just awful after all the rain & being gone for a spell. Where the vine crops covered the ground earlier, there isn't much. Where they didn't, my oh my. Lotsa maters blushing. Not much purslane under them either. Time to ready the bacon & lettuce.🥪🥪
