Found this on social media....is it legit?

Congratulations to Nolan Sprengeler on catching the Minnesota Certified Weight State Record black crappie. An absolute FREAK at 17.5” x 3 lb 8.9 oz

      Brings two questions to mind.

      Can a catch and release fish be considered for a record?

      Will someone within the DNR have to dissect the fish looking for any "improprieties"?

      You can tell from my questions I have no experience submitting a fish or animal for consideration as a record. Many years ago, I did gig a pretty good sized frog.

ye they did, i also believe they did something to the old records and kinda like started over......... I forget the terminology they used for the old records however.

Better run that son-o-batch through an xray machine, just to be sure now a days!
