My hunting, fishing and trapping licenses expire in a couple of weeks.
I used to be cute and adorable. Then, I had my first birthday. Been downhill ever since.

Very cheap. I've only spent about $100 on all my hunting, fishing and trapping stuff. That's what I told my wife.

It's going to be an expensive year. I got $250 in boat & 4 wheeler fees on top of the license fees 😞

well.......between 4 4-wheelers, 4 boats and all the other fishing and hunting licensees its an never ending vicious cycle!!!  :surrender: granted some of them are mine alone and others come out of the cabin fund.

i have 2 boats that are cabin related that are due, 1 is painted camo for duck hunting........legally i dont have to license that....but its a light 12 ft boat i occasionally like to drag to a small lake with a crappy access my 16 ft lund wont go in. deciding if i want to license it......

If you have been following the DNR's new latest and greatest online license purchase program you will notice a recent pivot on when to purchase your license. Up until recently, the new program was going to roll out in early March, and they made provisions for all licenses that expire February 28 would be honored until the new system was rolled out. Knowing the history of most of the "new" program roll outs, I thought that was a bit risky for them.  Turns out my suspicions were correct. Here's the latest information.

DNR news release:
New licensing system launching later this year
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources’ new electronic licensing system (ELS) will modernize the issuance of fishing and hunting licenses and the titling and registration of boats and off-road vehicles.

The DNR is working with Minnesota IT Services (MNIT) and external vendor PayIt Outdoors to launch the new system. The original rollout date was March 2025, but the rollout was moved to later in the year.

Until the new ELS system is launched, nothing will change for license agents, deputy registrars, anglers, hunters, and recreational vehicle and watercraft users as they buy licenses or register motorized vehicles. The current system is fully functional.

We know people are eager to have a new, modernized system, and we are focused on ensuring a smooth and successful launch and the best user experience from the start. Please sign up for email updates below to stay informed on the timeline and rollout.

I have been doing a lot of my licensing online the last few years.  Was at the County license bureau recently.  I know them well.  He said that when I buy from the County that each transaction brings in $9 for them.  SO now I try to do most of mine in person at the County.

Maybe you should buy one and put a velcro patch on each boat and move it back and forth. You probably an't seen a warden back there in the sticks in 30 years anyway!     :rotflmao:

I guess I never realized how much money you could spend on licenses and permits. All I have to buy is my hunting, fishing and trapping license and my walk in access.
      I'll quit bellyaching, now.

For decades I just sat at the puter and ordered what we needed, didn't care  who benefited from the sale, I didn't have to wait in line or go anywhere. Nowadays I'm at FF so much we just go early mornings and call it good. Still couldn't careless who gets the extra 3 bucks..

The CS counter at L&M is right inside the door & that's usually our 1st stop when we go to town on Wednesdays. They're rarely busy when we get there about 9 & since I already have my Driver's License ready to go it almost takes longer to sign it than it does for them to print 1. :happy1:
