so......over on IDO a post was started regarding a possible  year round bass season. anyone else seen or heard of this???? favor it at all. i personally could care less. i dont fish them on purpose and dont eat them. even if they allowed it i wouldnt fish for them anyway.

of course i made a comment now i'm getting beat up.....again!!!!!! :rotflmao: of course the discussion went kinda sideways......about doesnt matter when a species is taken it wont reproduce then following year anyway...... :surrender:

Could care less.  Have eaten lots of them and they taste just like any other fish if the water isn't 80 degrees where you catch them. I don't intentionally pursue them neither. It is nice to have them around for those that can't catch walleyes.   :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

One time, years ago,, when I couldn't catch walleye we kept some medium sized smallmouth. I browned them and wrapped the fillets individually in aluminum foil with dill and butter. They were very tasty.

Most people catch and release bass anyways. They could close the keep season and have a catch and release the rest of the time.

I thought they were talking about making the stripped bass a year around season cause they were evasive?
I didn't see anything about smallies or largemouth.
Either way, I don't fish for them on purpose, so I could care less.
I tried eating a largemouth once and it tasted like weeds.... never again...

We target them starting June til the dock comes out. Fun fish to catch, don't think I've ever kept one but a big bucket mouth smacking a top water is cool. Some of the bass purists should be mad over this, in their minds pulling a bass off a nest early is just wrong... I heard first hand..lol. ( a fella at work).
