What does everyone have for broadheads in their quiver?

  I have always pretty much shot muzzy 100gr 3 blades, until this year when I purchased the Rage 2 blade.  I will  continue to use the Rage from season to season, I am very inpressed with the durability and size of hole that it leaves.  Like they say it makes a bad shot, a good shot.  Just my opinion and preferance.

I was using some cheap $3 broad heads till I showed a friend how it bend on the first shot.  He said "Why put so much time, $, and effort into this then put a piece of junk on the tip?"  That's the very tool we want to do the job.  I have to agree.  When attempting to take a God given life, there's no room for mistakes.

I still have one junker left and not so sure if I'll use it or not.  Maybe for an upclose shot to finish one off.

I have 2 Spitfires.  I bought those thinking they were great but there too high maintenanc for me.  Not only that, its hard to sharpen them.

Now Im sold on G5 Montech 125 grains.  They are SOLID and easy to sharpen to a razor sharp edge.

I use 100 grain Rocket broadheads. very sharp good on the cutting end and they fly just like my feild points. even out to 60 yards...

I got Hammer 3 blade on the old bow and Muzzy 3 blade on the new.

The bait store I bought the Hammer broad heads at, quit carrying them, so I switched.

Older bow is a PSE thunderflite
Newer bow is a PSE baby G

Ya, their both outdated, but they do the job!

I shoot 125 grain standard Slick Trick. These head are Awesome!!

I am Shooting Wasp Jack hammer sst. 125 grain and they are the best broadheads i have ever shot.

Last fall I carried Rocky Mountain Extremes and Slick Tricks. Harvested a deer with both. I just picked up a pack of the 3 blade Rocky Mountain Snypers. So I'll be carrying some combination of the 3 next fall. Although I think I'll be knocking one of those Snypers first.

More kinetic energy is what I thought Id get out of it.  Ya know, a harder hit on impact.  Some folks also use the H.I.T. - Hidden Insert Technology.  When the arrow hits, the insert slides forward and slams it home.

i use rage 3's. they work better than any other broadhead i have shot. fly's just like a feild tip but leaves a 1.5 in entrance hole.

You guys sure do i brought them from MN archery off Matt, i think they fly real nice too, and look super tough, not that it matters to the poor critter that they hit, but i like them.

yeah i understand that. but is it out a preference?

My main goal is a clean kill.  If my arrow doesn't penetrate deep enough, I could miss the target which is the vitals. 

Now that I've shot them for so long, that's all I have for broad heads and field points.

Shoot straight, hit em hard, rope em up, RAW HIIIIIDE!!!!!!!!!

Placement is the most important thing in getting a clean kill but if 125s are available, that's what Im buying.  I want that high KE to help ensure a deeper penetration.   I don't want any tough tissue holding up my arrow from hitting the vitals.

I used to shoot Muzzy back in the day. The problem I had with them was that I could never get them to fly properly. Right before season I would switch to my broadheads, but had to change my sights... definitely a confidence killer. With tons of money invested in trial and error, I have found that Montec G-5's work best for my set up.

From my own experience, with my bow, Muzzy's did fly like crap, I had to make sure they line up with the fletching just perfect.

Well this is a touchy subject.......But remember, no one is 100% right when it comes to which broadhead is the best.  All broadheads will kill an animal, the natives used to do it with a stick and a pointy rock for that matter. But people have had positive experiences with every broadhead made.  Some heads will fly better than others depending on set-up and tuning.  Some heads can...and I say CAN hesitantly, penetrate better if all circumstances are completely exact in every situation.  The trick is finding a head that you feel CONFIDENT with. 

Super Star, to answer your question on kinetic energy.  The combination of arrow speed and weight will determine kinetic energy, the faster your arrow is going and the heavier it is will result in a harder on an animal.  Kind of like if you were to get hit in the head with a wiffel ball and a baseball.....which one would hurt worse?  Some people like to use a heavier point in an attempt to increase kinetic energy.  There are also arrows that can help.  The H.I.T. insert is not a moving or sliding insert.  It is securely glued into the shaft.  The purpose of the arrow is to impact harder because it is small in diameter and heavy.  (It focuses more weight on a smaller pinnacle point.  It also allows for the shooter to square up the insert side of the shaft with a chamfer to help broadhead flight. p.m. me if you have any further questions buddy!  I will do my best to help you out.

so in your mind what do you think is the best set up for broad heads and arrows.. i would like to be able to shoot out to 60 to 65 yards. (antelope)....
