I plan on going this year, they will start to run as soon as the rivers open up and the water temp gets around, I wanna say 45.

Smelting is not what it used to be years ago, the numbers are way down. On a good night, your gonna have to really work for um!

I was just taking to Bobby Bass about this very thing. He said the cutters have been going on the main lake, but the rivers are still froze.

I'll be doing some spring steelhead fishing as well, when the lake is open.  :happy1:

I just came back from the cabin yesterday. It was warm up there over the weekend. On the way up the rivers looked solid and snow covered . I could see most of them even though I was on the expressway. On the way back the Knife is real visible and it looked like wet ice with water on top. But they are still locked up good . The lake ice that was there 2 weeks ago is gone . Still a lot of snow over the hill in the woods . It was knee deep in most places yet . My yard wasn't quite that deep . Almost all the snow is gone on the lake side of the hill . I could still see a couple of trucks on the lake by my cabin . This wet snow and a late week warm up will do some damage to the ice on the rivers.
