I let Macey my dog out this morning and put her on her leash, went upstairs to make breakfast for the kids and about a half hour later was going to let Macey back in.

She's gone and so is her leash, I really think someone grabbed her.

Occassionally she will get out and cruise the neighborhood, but always stays within a block or so, she always comes back to a whistle or me calling for her. It scares me that her leash is gone this time. I keep thinking that even if the leash broke and she was running around, someone may have picked her up or she could be in the woods tangled up somewheres.

I've allready walked the neighborhood and woods 3 times this morning looking for her. I'm really bummed out that someone will keep her. She's been gone since 8am or so.

I'm heading outside again now.

Sorry to hear about your dog.  Is there any snow that may have tracks?

I know the feeling.  Last fall I let my 16 YO pooch out to do her thing.  She was always VERY good at staying in the yard.  She wandered off.  This was at 2AM.  I went out with a flashlight looking for her.  GONE.  I was very shaken.  I called thee police and reported her missing.  After getting up at sunrise and driving and walking the neighborhood still nothing.  Thank God a woman 3 blocks away saw her lying down in the grass.  It was 10AM.  It got down to 19 degrees that night.  Poor girl.  You have my prayers in getting your pooch back!

Very sorry to hear this. This might sound goofy, but is there any way to get someone or an agency with a tracker dog that could follow the sent of your dog if it's not stolden?

Sorry to hear about Macey Pat. I hope you find her. I know how upsetting it can be. My ES likes to run and she can be a half mile away by the time you get in the car to go look for her. She comes when you call her, but first you have to find her. Does she have a tag with her name and phone number on it?

I found her.  :party3:  :party3: That was one of the worst feelings i have ever had in my life.

A neighbor about a half a mile away said he found her at 10:00 this morning, he found my name  on the collar and just called me at 3pm. I'm so happy that he finally called, the phone # was very worn out but he could stil read my last name, so he got the # from the Woodbury phone book.

A huge reminder to me to identify my dog better, I always redo the name on the collar every spring because it wears out within the year.

Thank goodness!!!!!!   :party3:   :party3:   :party3:

I don't have tags on my dogs but have never had them run off and all my neighbors know my dogs but it is still a great reminder.  But when I lived a few miles away a stray showed up in my yard.  Real nice lab with a name tag.  I called them up and they were more than happy to come and get there dog.  Never seen it again so I assume it was out of nature for him to run off.

No chewing out, actually I spent the rest of the day playing with her, we went to the park and for a walk, then we sat together with her head on my lap for the first 2 periods of the Wild game.

I thought i lost my best friend, so we celebrated when she came home.  :party1: I know it sounds weird but i was miserable when she was gone.

i wonder if the guy took her... and started to get to petting her, smelled his hands and thought "phew", and then returned her? :oscar:

Just kidding!  glad you got her back.  that would have been a shame.  She is a good dog...

I know this sounds like old news  and anal, but every spring and Fall  "Elli" gets new tags /split rings and the collar is washed/checked for frays weak buckles  etc etc .  The tags get worn so you cant read them but also more importantly the holes will wear through wear it constantly swings on the split ring and the tag will fall of after they wear through!  She has 3 tags, her name/address/phone, the rabie tag/address/phone, and my name/address/ cell phone tag.  The tags are all on their own ring so they cant all fall off at the same time.  The tags have always done their job with the young pups getting curious.
