ok, so I got a question for you guys...

when do you start using scents for bow hunting?  Do you use a doe urine right away on opening weekend?  as the rut started yet?  don't you have to wait until that starts?
Also, what do you use?  I was thinking about using tinks this year.
If a gun kills people then I can blame a pen for my misspells?

that ealry in the stage i think it would be more of a curiousity thing. i dont use any scents till the 3rd week in october, i start doing mock scrapes first week in october. but in sept i just hunt the food, which right now the deer i hunt dont want anything other than the apples and acorns that are falling. the food plots have been pretty much abandoned for now.

I use scent blocker especially the deoderant when its this warm out.  If I use any scent attractant it will be the anis (licorish) smelling stuff.  In Nov I'll go to the estrus scented stuff.  Last year I used the estrus scented leaf (plastic) and it worked great.
If ya don't know where ya are, go back to da beginnin.

Doe urine as a cover scent - Pre rut ........

Doe in heat /estrous - Shouldnt be used until pre rut / Fool bucks into thinking a doe came in early........ Maybe Post rut as well - for some that came in late......... Because by the time the rut kicks in - alot of dominate bucks will already have thier selected does pinned down..........

As soon as the leaves start dropping & the grass dies - is when I typically start making a mock scrape line ........I started doing all that Jazz out of curiosity but after seeing the area disturbed afterwards - I knew I pissed off some buck in the area ......... So ,, A buck urine in late oct or early nov should work nice........

I'm about the same, I start using them around mid Oct.
But always use scent killer when I walk into the woods.

I apply Scent killer, whether it works or not, every time I enter the woods.

As far as scents I always use a little doe urine on my boots before I walk in as a cover scent.

It is not until the middle of Oct when I begin to experiment with "in heat" scents.

I think #407 I have used early season but not much.

I always use scent killer at the truck and then I use Pete Rickard's Indian buck lure on a drag line to the stand. It's called buck lure, but it's more of a curiosity scent. I've seen some different reactions from the deer when they come across the scent trail. Most deer don't seem to be effected by it one way or another, but I have deer come in like they were on a string, but I've also had deer that seem to get a bit freaked out by it.
