I have decided to build a perm over the summer months.

I don't really know where to find it, so, I'm looking for some input.......

What's the widest you can go on a trailer to be legal on the road?

Someone sugjest the max was 80"

I thought it was 7'6" (including tire width)

And semi trailers are 8'6"

What do you think?

I'd go with the semi trailer....

My fish house is 8 1/2 from outside of wheels but only 6 1/2 from wall to wall.

It's nice to have the fish house wheels lined up to the truck wheels to move around the deep snow or you just get stuck like me all the time. :titanic:

You are correct 101 proof!  I work at a place that builds trailers.   ;)

Hunter shoot me a pm sometime about your thoughts on the frame.

I was thinking 8X12 or 8X14

Not sure which would be cheaper to build.

A flat bed, to slide the house off or something like this one.

Btw-when figuring the maximum width of 102" (8-1/2') that is the outtermost part of the trailer dimensions.

Hunter-you could build one similar to the one pictured and mount a winch up front. Lower it to the ice and then crank the house on.   Then crank it up and away you go!  :happy1:

One other thing to remember is that most municipalities have height restrictions on ice house structures. For instance Walker has a limit of 21' on Leech during the Eelpout. Be careful because the language in the law says you are in violation at 21'. We get by because what we erect is 20'12".
