I am trying to see how many people shoot or would like to shoot Traditional Bows. I just got back into shooting traditional bows. I love it. I am going to a 3d shoot in June that is traditional only. Plus I am going to be contacting a traditional archery shop to help him out and pass the word around. This guy is not much for computers and I am going to try to get an pictures of all his bows and try to help get his web site going better. My father in law is checking to see about opening a shop in the local area too. I have shot my recurve for a few years now and my looking at getting a long bow too. I have sold both in the past a long with compounds.

I shoot both a recurve and a compound now.  To tell you the truth I like shooting my recurve more. With my compound it is like shooting a rifle. Once the sights are on they are on. I can shoot my recurve faster and easier to carry.  :archery:
If today was perfect. There would be no need for tomorrow.

That is the shop. My father in law and I both know the owner. He is going to be at the shoot in Coon Rapids in June. He is a great guy. My father in law might be trying to get a shop open in Robbinsdale.

I'm actually trying to get into bow hunting for this season and i really want to start off with a recurve bow, so i'm hoping to get within the next month here.  I was referred to Lamont at the Footed Shaft in Rochester, so i'll have to make the trip down there soon when i get some time(and money).

They are so fun to shoot. I have a recurve and looking at getting a long bow. My 10 year old son tried to shoot mine and now he wants his own recruve. He already has a compound and has been shooting that for about 2 1/2 years now. He thinks it is cool how plan it is and how fast I can shoot with it.  :archery:

I have a longbow that a friend of mine made.  Have yet to kill anything with it yet.  I still go back and forth between it and the compound.

I just got a new longbow and love it. I have been out 3 to 4 times already in the last week. I can't wait till bow season starts. :archery:

I'm hoping to get some time to go down and see Lamont within the next week and get a recurve from him.  Went to see him at Coon Rapids and he didn't have any bows my size.  Haven't been able to make it down there since.

Check a few of the sites I told you about. Lots of them on there. Cheap. If you can find the right one.  Good Luck.

I went down and bought a bow from Lamont on Wednesday.  He's a real good guy.  Set me up with a used hundred dollar 62" Indian Pathfinder.  He didn't have any arrows made up my size and he sent them and i thought i'd get them on Friday but actually got them on Thursday.  Great service!  He also gave me a couple of arrows out of this practice bin because as he put it, "Buying a bow and not getting arrows with it is like getting a flashlight for Christmas with no batteries."  It was deifinitely worth the drive.  The nice thing is, he knew i didn't know jack squat about what i was doing and not once did i question whether i was getting taken advantage of.  He doesn't BS you around with buying useless stuff, which is nice compared to most of the crap you get from the chain stores and even a place like Joe's.

I went with a 45 lb draw since this is my first season doing this.  I could have gone 50 but i felt like i could progress faster with the 45 lb draw.  Nice thing is, if i bring this bow back to Lamont he told me i'd get a 70-80 dollar trade in value on it for my next bow.  I still need to get some hunting broadheads and a quiver but he told me not to worry about that stuff til i start getting closer to hunting season and just worry about getting use to the bow.  So i'll be going down there again in late August to get that from him too.  I got set up with the everything including a bowfishing rig for about $216.  As a matter of fact i've already taken a shot at a carp with it(missed and couldn't find more, it was a crappy day for doing it but i really just wanted to try that feature out).

Sounds like you got set up right. Glad to hear. My father in law and I shoot as much as we can. Like I said Lamont is great. My recurve is #41@28" and my Long bow is #56@28" and I shoot about a 30"draw. So add a little more weight to it. It is a lot of fun and hope you enjoy it. Like I said before I would rather shoot traditional. Just because my compound is like a rifle. Once it is sighted in it is like clock work. Let me know if you ever want to go shoot. I bow hunt with traditional bows too. It is a blast. Good Luck .  :archery:

Naw, I don't go to any of the shoots.... I have my own 3D targets I practice on.

And, if ya really like shooting traditional bows, try pheasant hunting with it....it's a gas!
