A cougar without a tail?     Color and body physique match one but no tail from what I can see.

I would say Lynx as well.  The build does look like a cougar, but I think it would be a little longer if it were a cougar.
Are you sure they are the same animal?  Could just be the stance, but the top picture looks like a lynx and the bottom, more like a cougar.
I say shoot it and find out.... Im not sure what permit you need, I would assume land owners are allowed to shoot them if they are endangering their livestock.... but who knows, everything is regulated now a days so im sure you need permission from someone!

I am going all in on a Bobcat.  A big Bobcat.  Definitely NOT a cougar.
The spots on the body are hard to see with the summer coat, but they are there.

It would make more sense for it to be a Lynx when you say it's feeding on fawns and attaching calves.  That's the only thing that's got me blundered.

I think it's a bobcat. That little bit of color pattern around the legs is very bobcat like. Where was it photographed - Osakis? No way that's a lynx.

I dont think a bobcat would be able to take down a baby calf, maybe a fawn but not a baby calf.
I belive it's a lynx maybe has adapted which would cause the color problem
Waskish, there is no where else I would rather be.

Yes it was taken in Osakis mn. The baby calf was a new born hours old. fawns could not have not been but maybe days old. I'm leaning to Bobcat

That came from South Dakota. I got it from a friends facebook page. We hunted out on the Missouri river last spring for Turkeys and that is where it was taken. Its near Platte. Looks like a big cat! The landowner has a special permit or tag that allows him to shoot cougars. He says when they come around they try and get'em because they are so devastating to the area and they are dangerous.

I say the pic is definetly a Lynx. If you google images of both Lynx and Bobcats, Bob's are more prone to have markings/spots then Lynx. I dopn't see very prevolent markings on this cat therefore my money is on Lynx.

If the first one is a lynx don't shoot it unless you get permission from the DNR, they are protected, however if it killed a calf I am sure they will let you shoot it
