fav stands?

what does everyone perfer for stands i myself like hang on stands over ladder or climbing stands but i also dnt spend alot of money on my stands i know some guys that use lonewolf stands they are great but i can buy 2 or 3 stands for the price of one lonewolf but that's me so lets here what you all like you use

I like Double stands, or wide singles - that is the main one I sit on.  I like the extra size so I have room to move if I need to stand up and shoot. 
Dont remember the brand, but its has a nice seat cushion, water resistant, 16' high (I think?) - got it on sale for $129 at cabelas on year, i think they are originally $170ish.
I also have a few cheaper ones, single seater, mesh seat and swing bar enclosure.  I dont mind either as long as I am comfortable and the dont make alot of noise (metal creaking).
Anything is better than sitting on a bucket on the floor - which was normal for me about 5 years back!

I for one am a Lone Wolf stand guy. I have 2 of them, one pretty much stays where it's at and the other is the take along. With their "J" hook set up you cant beat them. I have over a dozen hunting spots and I just leave the strap with the hook up and take the stand with with me. Takes all of 5 seconds to hang the stand on and your ready to go. I have a pile of cheaper stands but your going to be hardpressed to find any that don't creak or squeek in the cold. My Lone Wolfs make NO sounds at all. Comes down to the "you get what you pay for".

I like the River's Edge as well. Light weight, compact, comfortable and strong enough to hold my fat up in the tree!

I have a few 2 man ladder stands that I use for bow hunting....

But, I like the ones I built better for comfort... BIG tower stands.

Currently my favorite is a ladder stand. I also just used my ground blind this eveing for the first hunt of the year, heck of a lot more comfortable! And warm too

Ol'man makes a really comfortable one but as for me I will take anything that gets me in the woods!

I might be in the minority here but I don't own a single hang on or lock on stand.  We have numerous platform stands built in trees and also have quite a few ladder stands. Lately we have been buying only double ladders.  For some reason it's difficult to move a ladder stand, so we just buy a new one when we have another spot we would like to hunt.  It's not the physical part of the move but rather the thought of not hunting the spot where we would have to take it from.

I sold all my hang on stands to a guy at work for 20.00 a piece. i use ladder stands and home built boxes now. To old to be climbing those little steps on the sides of the trees. The wife also just ordered me a double bull for christmas. I have a dog house which works for gun, but it's to small for bow.

there is nothing better out there than the ambush saddle its the only stand ive ever used with 360dagre shooting and I have never gotin spoted by a deer althoe all my trees are 30 + feet up.

I have to agree 100%  Add 5 muddy climbing sticks and you can get up 20 feet in less than 5 min.

i have them all, from hang-ons to ground blinds. i prefer my climbing stand that i bought from MNO a few years ago. still my favorite stand, and light enough that i can carry it on my back anywhere.. my 2nd has to be my big game ladder stand, that i have placed near a bedding area, has a real comfortable seat and backrest, the platform isnt to big so i dont bow hunt out of it.

Hang ons are a complete pain in the whazoo. I would rather sit against a tree on the ground. Enclosed tree forts take the fair chase out of the sport for me. If you cannot take the elements of an outdoor sport watch television. (I am guilty of this sometimes ice fishing). I never go without my climber. If I want to move I am in another spot and safe in minutes. When I get too old to drag a deer I will retire. 4 wheelers even to drag with arent fair chase. Too old school? did I upset anyone?

No, you didn't upset me.  However, you might reconsider the part about quiting when you are too old to drag a deer.  Remember, some people can't drag a deer at any age.

I like the double ladder stands... they're big, sturdy, and easy to get in and out.. with the kids starting to hunt more I don't want to worry about them. we've also built a few freestanding platforms. but we have private land. I like my climber when I go to wisconsin.. don't remember the brand but it uses the rubber belt to wrap around the tree very quiet very easy to set up.

everyone has their own idea of fair chase. this was a thread about deer stands not dragging deer.

Ken, when you get to old to drag your deer, you call me. chances are I'll be to old to drag it too, but I'll come out to the woods with a bottle of brandy and we'll have an all you can eat barbeque right there on the spot.

Nope, not me....

I use hang-ons, ladder and climbers myself.

But when teaching and taking kids with special needs, it's hard to put them in one of those though.

And if ya need help dragging your deer Ken...give me a call...I"ll bring the beer I owe ya....

I use a 20 ft ladder stand made by Loggy Bayou.  Rock solid but top heavy.
