With my air conditioner on the fritz my mind is on the upcoming ice season.  I have not ice fished Mille Lacs for 40 years.  Would anyone be interested in a MNO get together on the big pond this year.  I am sure our friends at Hunter winfields and Millelacsbob could point us to a good spot.

I am already praying for an early cold winter.  I am pretty much open most weekends in the winter.  December would be my first choice followed by Jan.  Anyone with interest or suggestions on a good date jump in and lets meet some of our MNO members in person.  I know for a fact I could set up some ice lure give aways and maybe put up a couple of prizes for fish caught. :toast:

It's been 30+ yrs since I've been there.  Depending on when this occurs, I might be there to watch ya'll get a bbq grill out of the ice!   :rotflmao:

I know a few of the boys have had some luck up there ice fishing.  I'm with Woody.  I am willing to give it a try.  For me it is kind of like the state fair.  I have to try it once every 20 years or so to see if anything has changed.

The location is not locked .  Any input to a location where our members would be able to travel to is welcome.  It would be nice to go to a spot where we could pick up a couple of walleye though.  I want the General to see one in real life.  ;D

I hope his cart was sanitized, and then seasoned before slappin those steaks on it... I read that shopping carts are the nastiest, germ ridden things out there... worse than a Walmart restroom..... aint kidding! :rotflmao:  Yeah... a hard water trip there would be a blast! :happy1:

DEFINITELY, if Millelacsbob could point us to a decent spot or we could talk to rockman too.  I personally havent fished Millelacs, but I know its huge and there are alot of possible spots, but my dad has gone up the last few years and havent had much luck, just some perch and tulls.
-- We could do a metro lake (or something that is a short drive) and try for some crappies or gills. (Just need to have bass and pike, so 'someone' can have problems landing them)

It's the new 2011 Weber prototype. And steering is easy - it's a lot like driving a combine.

I'd be up for Mille Lacs, but accommodations might be a bit spendy.  A metro lake would be plenty fine with me.  Maybe it's worth setting a date, but leave the lake open until we find out where the hot bit is.

Why don't we do this.   My lake in Northern Mn.  has frozen late and right before a big snow the last two years. Ice has been crap and slush making it hardly worth going out. I don't usually fish the metro but am going to this year.  I like to fish outside but will bring the porty down so I have it.  Some members mentioned that they could not get together on the pond until after the 1st of the year.    How about a metro day in Dec.  and then a Mille Lacs run in Jan.  Just watch this forum.  We will set up a ice condition thread and when it is safe to go we will set it up.  For any non members that would like to try ice fishing this would be a good place to start.  Come on out and find out why we are all so excited.  Feel free to sign up as a new member and email me.  I will get you ice fishing this winter.   All you need is to be a member of MNO and a fishing lic. if you are older than 15. :happy1:

The more I look into it I may have to agree with the general on this.  Mille Lacs may not be the best place this winter.  The longer this nice weather goes the better chance of a big snow right after freeze up gets.  This creates bad ice and slush problems.  I think we table Mille lacs and see how the winter decides to show itself.  The 2010 MNO ice fishing get together is on.  Judging by all the motorcycles on the road today it may be in 2011.  :taz:

What about the Chisago Lakes area?? It is close to the cities and right off of 35w for those wanting to come down. Lots of lakes and lots of fish?? What do ya think?

I'm sure I can work something out to make it anywhere.  But on the western edge of the cities would be better I'm guessing for most of us who are not from the cities.  Say the Buffalo area.

I'm game for going somewhere.  I still have not been out yet.  My shelter is at the cabin.  My lake just froze over completely last Friday.  I hope they are not getting this snow.  If I don't schedule something now the winter is going to pass me by.   It seems like there is always something I have to do.      I am ok with a metro outing if I know far enough in advance.
