The snow is to fluffy right now. They wouldn't help much.

I've used snowshoes for pheasants before.  hard to shoot off of.. but great to get you across the drifts to the cattails. where you can dump them or stick em in your pack.  the drifts we were dealing with were waste deep and just hard enough on top to get you confident enough to walk out and then you'ld fall in up to your waste in the middle of the dang thing (before we had snowshoes). and of course the drift would support the dog so as your trying to climb out the dog would run over to lick your face or fall in the hole with you. nothing like late season SD pheasants.

If anyone is interested the guy that runs the boyscout camp in Rochester is selling the old military snow shoes magnesium frame and cable mesh with good crimp nylon bindings for $40 a pair on Rochester Craigslist.  I just picked up 3 pair this weekend.   :happy1:

Cool.  And if you need to start a fire and don't want to use birch bark, you have magnisum snow shoes to scrap.
