That is sick!
Looks like a pretty short arrow, like a crossbow arrow.

That deer still looks suprisingly healthy.  Coat looked good and his body looked strong.  I couldn't tell what the story was but I would guess it's  an animal rights outfit.

Yes it does look like a cossbow bolt. And that may have been a case of the deer looking back at the shooter while quartering away. Deer are incredibly tough animals that is for sure. The deer in Canada are really big body wise. By the size of his head and antlers I bet he is only 1 1/2. That arrow must pass right through the roof of his mouth. Poor guy. But there are humans that pay to have that done to themselves.

Deer are tough and their reflexes are incredible.  If the animal picks up the sound of the string release they can move, duck, turn enough to make a so called easy shot miss the mark.  This deer is either very lucky or very unlucky.  I'm guessing if you could talk to him he would say " D*m that was close".   :whistling:    Don't worry about the bolt catching brush.  These guys carry head gear around all fall and can slip through some of the thickest brush undetected.  Biggest problem would be infection.  From the pics there are no signs of that at this point.   I think he has a better chance than a lot of the rump shot deer from this years rifle season.

I have heard of people gutting deer and moose and finding arrows inside of them or sticking in bone masses and being totally calcified over. Agreed, nature always finds a way and never gives up. I would be interested to see if this deer is still around. I think the video was shot over a year ago. I would say the deer is  1 1/2 as well. The deer back home are bigger just like Kenhuntin said  ;D but by this video....it seems as though the bow hunters around here are better shots  ;)

that's a sad thing to see and it does look like a cross bow bolt like one of the other guys said

Whats more unethical? That shot placement, shining that deer to end its suffering, or letting the deer walk away with an arrow through its dome piece? Either way you look at it the government looks at it unethical.
