Anglers, pay attention the best might be yet to come. Ice surfaces now finally in good shape for sleds and wheelers. Kabetogama may cough up some crappies if you can find them. Lost Bay, Lost Lake and Ash River all have been crappie holes at one time or another. Now the bonus, both Namakan and Sand Point have the longer border lakes fishing seasons. walleye is open till April 15th, and northern pike has a continuous season, Plus you might find crappies. Minnows are the best bait choice hands down, Either just the head, or the full minnow. Small glow jigs work well for both walleye and crappies. The best success for most species has been in that 28’ depth range.
