Here is a fishing report from Jeff Skelly in the Grand Rapids area....

Walleye fishing in the Deer River,Grand Rapids area continues to be very good. Myself,Jason Boser and Charlie Worrath guided a group of fishermen from Kansas for the last six days and that allowed us to fish a number of different lakes. Lake Winnie, Bowstring,Sand Lake and leech were all visited at least one of our days and we had great luck on all of them. A 1/16th oz. Northland Fireball was the perfect match for the 5 to 10 foot of water we were fishing and it really didnt matter that we didnt have shiners,, the chubs and rainbow minnows worked just fine. Perch fishing as well was good, using the same presentation only on a
slow drag is what the jumbo perch wanted, where as the Walleyes and Northern liked the Fireball and minnow along at a faster pace. We all agree that the best bites are yet to come, so get out there and enjoy!!!   Have fun and be safe
