This is more of an FYI....

If you plan on purchasing a Humminbird and connecting it to an "Ipilot"....make sure it's the "Ipilot linked"

It's the newest version of Minnkota.

If you have just an "Ipilot" you can purchase a new head and remote for $800.00 to convert it to an "Ipilot Linked"

You should still be able to do some things without the pilot link. You just won't have to fancy lcd remote.

Yes, the MinnKota does have it's own GPS and will work fine. I just won't be able to control it from my Humminbird. (which was my goal) I was just giving everyone a heads up, because the folks at the stores are not all that knowledgeable about this technology, because it is rather new. I bought what I thought was correct, in actuality, it was not.

Also, the new "down imaging" Humminbirds do not work with the transducer installed on the Terrova or US2 and require you to purchase a separate transducer to be mounted on the bottom of the MinnKota.

Now Humminbird service is telling me I can connect with cable MKR US2-8  :banghead:

(But, I believe it's just to hook up the transducer, and not be able to use the down imaging)

Yes HD you do need a separate transducer to use the down imaging and side imaging the ones on the terova are only for regular 2d imaging   I love my I-pilot link hooked up to my humminbird and if you only have the I-pilot instead of the I-pilot link you don't have the follow the contour option and you cant hold near as many tracks or spot locks

I just added the auto chart pro to the mix but I have a long learning curve with this program yet but it is looking cool

Yea....the kind of fishing we do, I'm not sure I would actually use it  that much anyway. I took the boat out yesterday just to see how it all worked and was impressed with the auto anchor, and the tracks we did set, it stayed on course.
I can see how following a contour for walleye fishing would be beneficial, but we don't fish for those much.

I think I'm just gonna connect my 570 to the front on the Terrova and call it good. It does what I want it to do.

I looked at the auto chart pro...that looks like a sweet deal!  :happy1:
