Ok I see some of you guys have lots of knowledge on many things so I go here with my questions.  Like I have told you earlier I bought a 94 Dodge with a Meyer snow plow on it.  It has the E58 pump.  (newer model)  The plow is maybe 15 years old and in great shape.  Well the truck has seen better days although the tranny was replaced about 5 years ago.  Automatic.  318 motor.  Needs tires.  My question is:  I am thinking of putting the plow on my 94 Ford with only 72,000 miles on it.  It is a 4x4 150 but the sticker says 2950 front GAVW.  The plow is recommended on a 3800 front GAVW.  I will only be doing my own driveway and will not be leaving the plow on the truck when not plowing.  The whole plow and frame is about 650 lbs.  I could put some air bags in the front that look like will only be about $150.  I see lots of older 150's with plows on them.  Do I have to worry about this conversion??  I will need a frame to fit my Ford and will have to wire it up but will only have 1 truck to maintain.   Or should I just keep it on the Dodge and deal with it...

Is it a 7 foot or 8 foot? If it is a 7 foot you would probably alright just for doing your own driveway. Also remember not just the springs are carrying the weight, the tires are also. May need heavier ply tires. There again if you are not going down the road with it on, probably not an issue. Figure in your driveway most of the time the plow will be down pushing snow.

Me personally if all you are doing is your own driveway I would just leave on the truck it is on now. Then you don't have to keep taking it off and on all the time. Unless the truck is in that tuff of shape. For what you want to do though you should be fine. Just wouldn't go cruising down the road to far.

Ya might just be easier to leave things as they are.  Then the Ford will last longer too.

I agree!! I have a 1980 junker a real junker for a plow truck,Not licensed, street illegal no lights. Its purpose is to plow 600 ft a driveway thats it.It sits all summer and waits till fall for any service.I do siphon most the fuel out of it each spring and use that fuel for mowing,I put 10 gallons in each fall and have 10 gals on cans if needed. My good truck is a 1987 Ford straight 6 4X4 just hit 100,000 miles

Reb, got to like the parking brake in front of the rear wheel. Had the same one on my "49" F-1 when I was in high school. Works great. Usally kept a couple of spares in the back incase one got lost.

Crushing that unwanted snow for decades.

Smashing snow is tough on old trucks. Sometimes you need a donor truck and some child labor to keep things looking respectable.

Sometimes you gotta frankenstien that stuff together.

And you can't stop plowing just because you in the middle of a refurb.

You gotta give-r
