Walk up to his door with a hundred dollar bill.  Apologize for hitting his truck.  Hand him the C-note and say you want to settle this.  Then say thanks when he grabs it.  Walk away.  I think it will work.  Who doesn't want a hundred dollar bill?

I had similar scenarios happen to me in the past.  (I remember three incidents of people hitting my stuff).  I gave the perps the option of paying me (always less than total cost of repairs) directly or using their insurance.  One said he would pay me directly.  Being we were in the service and pay wasn't to much, I gave him a payment plan.  After three months of no payment, I turned it over to his insurance company.  Another had left their name and insurance information.  I called them and they said they only left that so I knew what to put on my insurance claim. ?? They though "no fault" would cover it. lol.  The last time my daughters car was hit and police were called.  The person had no proof of insurance but said they had insurance so the cops let them go.  Turns out they didn't have insurance but after a couple strongly worded letters (at the time my daughter was in law school) they send a check and it was good.  At no time did I try to profit from the incidents just game the other person options to help keep their costs down.

And have that little voice-activated recorder in yer pocket.....I've done that in the past more than a few times....solves LOTS of issues! It did again this year with a barking dog complaint and an attempted bribe....:happy1:
