cordless drills
Ok fella's my cordless drill is done.. it did last many years so can't complain to much..  looking at maybe a black&decker combo set...  drill circle saw and recip saw and light with 2 batteries...  my question is what do you haven and why..  I know there's pro's and con's to brands.. this set is$119.00 at the big m....

Dewalt's for me. Get yerself a hammer drill, can't beat 'em......but, it's whatever works for you, and what you want it for. I see they have a Bosch set on sale....I wouldn't go less than a 20 volt lithium. But, that's me. More power.  :rotflmao:  Flat Farm has some nice Dewalts and Milwaukee's on sale right now.... :happy1:

I have a complete Rigid set I got at Home Depot about three years ago.  The batteries all are still good.  Even the batteries are guaranteed for life.  They are great!

My Ryobi drill bit the dust a month ago.  I have a Ryobi circular saw as well. The batteries were getting weak so I was open to most any brand.  What I found is that most combo sets have low amp batteries and smaller tools. (5.5 inch circular saw rather than 6.5) I wanted at least a 3.0 amp battery.  Several weeks ago Home Depot had a sale where if you bought two batteries and the charger (3.0 amp batteries) you could pick a tool for free.  I ended up buying the two batteries for $99 and selected a Ryobi drill/hammer drill.  It has a 1/2 chuck (how many times have you wanted to use a bit larger than 3/8 inch) and is switchable between "drill" "clutched screw driver" and "Hammer drill".   I used the 3.0 amp battery in my saw all day while building the generator shed and it finally quit while ripping a 5/4 green treated board.  Of course, I still had a fully charged spare.  The hammer drill with the 3.0 amp battery is a bit heavy for house hold use like installing outlets but other than that I'm happy with it.

I got a Black and Decker set you can have....Junk, worse thing I ever bought. Batteries won't even last through a project.

I have DeWalt, that I really love and work really well. However, DeWalt has been bought by Black and Decker since then. So I don't know if there quality has gone into the toilet.

Milwauke has always been a good strong product. I have several corded products and a few cordless with no problems what so ever.

Bosch is good and so is Ryobi after that....

Stay away from MasterCraft or Toolshop, unless you only need to use it once.

Both our cordless sets, 1 for home & better 1 for here, are Ryobi. Sawsall, Circular saw, & light with 3 18 volt 4 ah batteries. Even our string trimmer is Ryobi cordless too. HD has a sale at least once a year on their sets, 1~Xmas, & batteries.

I think there only a couple of companies and they have a bunch of brands at different levels.

Bosch and Dewalt are the top level for them.   One of them bought Craftsman.

I have some 20v porter cable (midrange stuff) and Bosch 12v both of which I like.  My fave tool is the pc cordless shop vac.

Dewalts come in different quality levels too.  Regular hardware stores carry the homeowner level.  They are cheaper.

Stanley Black+Decker
Stanley Black+Decker is the largest of the drill manufacturers. The company produces drills under the Black+Decker, DeWalt, and Porter-Cable brands. TTI, another large manufacturer, makes Milwaukee tools, geared toward contractors, as well as Ridgid and Ryobi, both consumer-facing brands sold exclusively at Home Depot.

my old one is still getting me by..  the charge doesn't last long but it works...  just trying to get ahead of it before it really goes kaput!!!
