11/27/23 Ice update.

 We walked out about a mile today. The ice actually looks pretty good. We found around 4 inches all the way out to that point. We marked a walking trail and checked depth along the way. The first X is 8ft of water which is a good fishable depth. After that is where the ice needs a few more days. We found the holes that we showed you from the drone a couple days ago. And believe it or not, they are still open. I will tell you with certainty, that if someone tells you the lake is completely locked up, they aren't looking hard enough. Take this info for what it is, this is early ice on Upper Red Lake. This is not out of the ordinary and I've seen it many, many times. Remember, we've been doing this for 23 years! So let's all give it a few more days, let things heal up and hopefully catch a fish, drink a beer at the bar afterwards and tell a few fish stories.  After all, that's why we do this 🎣

Please keep the negative comments to yourself.  3 members of our staff here at the resort are part of Kelliher Fire & Rescue and are well aware of the dangers of early ice. We take this very seriously.
If you have reservations with us, we are scheduled to be good for walking only on Thursday, up the area we have staked out.  We will continue to monitor the ice daily and keep you up to date.
