Hey guys,

I will be out on the opener of early goose between st cloud and little falls. I know that is a big range, but if that's what it takes... Just thought it would be interesting to see what areas others will be in. I drive a 4 door white Dodge Dakota. If you see me out, give a wave!

Greg

Ps: I can hardly stand the anticipation!

I want to go but don't know where and with who. None of my buddies want to go.
If today was perfect. There would be no need for tomorrow.

i went today on our hilltop about 200 yards from the marsh and i arrived at 7am way late didnt bother setting up all the decoys. put 6 feeder geese out, and i hid in the corn, was just setting my gun down and taking everything out of my pockets and looked up and a flock was just clearing the trees no honks what so ever grabbed the gun and looked up and they were ontop of me already, fired 3 times and took down 2 geese. the rest of the flocks wouldnt come down seen 7-8 decent sized flocks. and right before i left i had a stragler(sp) come in and i blasted him. so i ended the day with 3. how did everyone else do

Wasn't planning to go but glad I did. A friend had been seeing some by his place so went out with  him and 3 others. We ended up leaving by 7:30-7:45 with a limit of 25.

Where I'm from calling, flagging and decoying are just basic skills and the kids will do a little guiding just to pay off some bills.

We got 7 this weekend. I was expecting more, but it was better than last years opener. It was a confusing one. Hunters in every directions, not many birds, and the wind kept changing... typical goose opener!

So far this goose season has been a bust......
We have had several flocks that flew over, but none to low.
Changed up our spread...changed up our calling....changed up our location..........

Nothing is working, we have seen smaller numbers of birds this year and not decoying well!
Last year we had hundreds, this year, total so far maybe, 200
Maybe they changed their flight patterns.........

Went out on Sat Morning. We ended up shooting 12. It was a way fun morning. Hope to get out more. I agree though. The #'s seem down a lot from years past in out area too.

down by slayton is where me and my buddy hunt, and numbers are super low there.  flocks of 6 or so, biggest we saw was 12.  but they were hanging out in an oat field until the hog farmer that leases it had to pump out his pit.  that pretty much wrapped up our opening weekend.

Nice!!! It is great to break out of a slump! I will not get out this weekend because of a batchlor party, but I did get out yesterday for a short time and managed 3 birds. 2 Canadas and one lesser! that was my first lesser ever. The total on the year is now 22 birds. Not bad for the area I'm in this year. Good luck to all heading out this weekend.

Way to Go Hunter! i mangaged 2 more birds on sunday morning just as i was finished picking up the decoys and putting them in the truck. just closed the door of the truck and going around the passenger side i seen them coming off the marsh right on the tree tops i quickly loaded my shells and ducked into the corn,  as they came over BAM BAM BAM! dropped them both. so season total for me was 9 geese, sure was a tough one. pics will be put up in a bit
