i was wondering if you could use a vexilar in the summer if you dont have a locator. i dont see spending 200-600 dollars for one and only using it 3months of the year. sorry guys for all the questions but all me and  my wife fish is bass and northern and we are trying to fish for other species so any info would be helpful thank you ladies and gents!!!!!

I use mine on the bow of my boat.

I just bought a different bracket and tranducer and it works sweet!  :happy1:

Heck yeah,do what hunter said or the poor mans method,over the years we would use ours in aluminum boats tp find structure/fish,just put the puck in a small can of water and she read right thru the hull.

  :happy1:  theres a place selling fl18s for 175...blue box or 200 soft pack that they used for rentals up here....that would save you alot of money.....they are in really good shape call me if you are interested...i wont fish without one and yes there right they work great in the summer too....i really dont know how anyone fishes without one....also check pawn shops one of my friends just got a brand new in the box showdown for $80...
